Scala was a unique language a few years ago. I'm very happy I adopt it a few years ago and I owe it a lot. As a lot of other modern languages or features of mainstream ones do.

However, with the existing alternatives nowdays, Scala doesn't hold the same position. I have not coded in Scala for ~2 years and I'm not sure I'll ever need to.

Anyway, all the best for Scala's awesome team and its ecosystem.

I'm also considering going back to a custom build desktop. Lots of flexibility, much more stronger, cheaper, upgradable, etc. I'm already connecting my laptop to a display and mechanical keyboard and mouse. Specially now we work from home and probably continue doing so which I enjoy a lot, I can just put the laptop aside for rare cases I need a mobile computer.

For Scala lovers this is an opportunity to revive Scalatron.

You are right if you are comfortable with your editor you're not missing a lot. I tried Emacs for a while it's nice and comfortable the moment your brain get used to the keyboard shortkeys though since it's a different word you start running everything in Emacs and it becomes your OS. Why it can be a problem is another story. Anyway I switched back to use different tools for different jobs. For taking notes and managing them I use Joplin it supports markdown, todo lists, etc. and you can even copy paste images into the editor. Lots of other features as well as sync with different backends.

Is there any way we can meet you sir? At a conference or meetup etc. You're an inspiration and that should be an honor for someone like me. I'm 35 and 17 years of coding and enjoying every moment of that. Though I sometimes think it's been a long time, I'm getting old, etc. but compared to you, I'm a kid and have a long way to go.

My wife and I also started making a game. Though the game didn't go far, I ended up learning new technologies specifically for the game to be scalable that landed me a nice job in another country.
