A friend of mine needed to create ideograms of chromosomes and abnormalities. This was my first time using graphics (in C#) to render the ideograms and React for front-end. Turned out to be a fun little project.

"I’m 40. What I’m doing today, I wish I would have done at 30. Jiu jitsu,"
I was training yesterday and had the same conversation. I am a 48 1-strip blue belt and my body is starting to give on the wear and tear.
Everything you said is aligned with my experience in training. BJJ is pure pressure testing of what you are learning and it is as close to fighting without striking and other dirty tactics like eye gouging. I have done traditional martial arts and it was not as close to experience under-pressure training. Also, I find myself in autopilot as well as in a focused, calm state when rolling at times.
I think in a real fight situation, someone who trains would be more calm to deal and, most likely, deescalate the situation because we are accustom to intense situations and our egos are tested so much that we are indifferent to silly challenges that can be fatal in some situations.
Same with where I train BJJ. Everyone is supportive and it helps make training fun.
I have a tween with ADHD, dyslexia, and anxiety. I spend a lot of check in times with her because last school year's remote learning was rough.
In regards to what can be learned in an hour, a roll with someone gives you an idea of what it is like to be on the ground with someone in a fight without striking, biting, eye gouging, etc.It is a decent simulation if what would happen when on the ground and the idea that if someone doesn't honor your tap, you can be in big trouble.
I suggest Brazilian Jujitsu. The rolling aspect of training trains you mentally to not to panic and problem solve the situation, deal with pressure, build cardio and relearn how to breathe, and adapt to different body types. Unlike striking martial arts, less worry of CTE.
^This. I use Biotene because it doesn't have SLS. I used to have this weird issue where after brushing, a residual, thick stuff (saliva? inner membranous lining of mouth?) would gather on my lips. It would be embarrassing wiping it off while talking to someone but it would subside an hour or so from brushing. After reading about SLS, I started looking for and SLS-free tooth paste. Since I have been using and SLS-free tooth paste, I have never had that problem again.
I had the SAME idea after seeing not-so-good options out there. Great job! I am interested on how you did this. The conversion speed is really quick!
Why not good ol' De Morgan's laws?

This heartbreaking. My deepest sympathy to him and his family. As a parent, I can't even imagine such a loss or how I would even cope with such a situation.
Some people consider it verbose? Wow. After starting with backbone and then later on discovering angular, I can confidently say it is not as verbose as other well known frameworks (such as backbone).
After reading this, could anyone recommend a good intro to crypto book? I see a lot of good reviews of Bruce Schneier's Applied Cryptography.
There should have been some warning on this link. That picture of that grieving (I assume) father was too much. I get the point the author is trying to make but it didn't have to be an /r/wtf subreddit.
Honestly, there were none. I think giving someone a challenge to do a their own pace was a perfect idea. I interview candidates in a discussion format so I can attempt to gauge passion, competency, and potential. I have been interviewed by startups where the guy on the other end of the phone seems annoyed to even have the call. The fact someone in your position in the company does direct phone calls to engage your candidates is EXTREMELY positive because you are showing care for your company by being that involved to know your candidate.
"Some places like Matasano, Stripe, Github and I’m sure many others are aware of this and are equally aware that it has the potential to harm their company a great deal." I actually had the pleasure interviewing with Matasano. I thought their process was fun and really enlightening in regards to what they do. Everyone I met during the process were really cool (and extremely smart).
LOL! Miss that show!
No Nuget?
Nice! This should be fun!

Funny. I had the same argument with someone about this months ago. I told him to google 'argyria'.
I wouldn't but some would. I am more interested in my genetic lineage. To get a more accurate test like the one Angelina Jolie did would be a better option.
If I did see something that suggested a possibility of something, I would go the direction of what you mentioned in the last paragraph.
Although I agree with the FDA's actions, a consumer getting a thorough genetic exam is possibly what prompted this. Check out the artidcle http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-11-25/fda-tells-google-ba.... Turns out United Healthcare raised a concern which I believe is might be money-related. If your test results suggest a high possibility of some health issue from an non-FDA approved company and you requested a more accurate test, then I can see the health insurance companies getting involved.
I JUST bought the kit yesterday. The FDA is right though. Imagine making extreme decisions (e.g., double masectomy to avoid breast cancer) based upon the information. This is making me consider cancelling my order.
Good ol' puritanical work ethic. I do my best to work smarter. One of the reasons I try to stay current with the latest technology is to see what benefits it would have on my work efficiency.
Exactly. This is what kept me from giving up this profession for last 13 years. You got to enjoy what you produce. Contributing to a cause is a perk.
The Safety layer of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is more important to me (age 37 and married with kids). As much as I would love to use my skills to contribute to humanity as a whole, the basic needs of someone in a similar phase of life must take care of the Safety layer first. However, I have found other ways to contribute to a cause (e.g., active in the community, charities, etc.)
I do it the way you just mentioned. I create specific modules and have them inject their dependencies. Each modules I create has its one or more models within its domain. I was going to go the repository route (one module per type) but it seemed overkill.
