Ubuntu Mate 6 years ago

Reminds me of Ubuntu 8.04, the first version I tried back in 2008. I personally find that Mate’s UI didn’t aged well.

I wonder why this is popping up on HN’s frontpage.

Please, Synapse isn’t production ready, at all. See this issue for example: https://github.com/matrix-org/synapse/issues/3364, reported back in 2018, labelled highest priority since then and still not fixed. This is indeed a huge problem, because if you don’t have shit tons of money to put in your database server’s storage you’ll quickly get stuck. Some workarounds mentioned are non-safe hacks and shouldn’t be necessary for a production ready messaging server.

Can someone point to me the goal of using NodeJs to produce a list like this? Why not just modifying the .md file directly?

Regarding Scaleway lack of rDNS for IPv6: it's because they don't support it. Customers (like I was) asked for it many times since 2016 but it seems too hard to implement for them.

TLDR: ‘A sewer of bigotry and vile conspiracy theories that threatens democracy and our planet - this cannot possibly be what the creators of the internet had in mind.’

In a speech last night at the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen attacked Facebook and other social media platforms for enabling the proliferation of hate speech and misinformation.

The speech was striking in its sincerity – Baron Cohen appeared as himself, rather than “in character” as one of his satirical personas – and its blistering tone.

Describing Facebook as “the greatest propaganda machine in history”, Baron Cohen argued that the company, which does not vet political ads for truthfulness, would have allowed Hitler to run propaganda on its platform.

They truly don’t know what they are talking about. We’ll maybe ultimately discover they weren’t using FTPS (or SFTP) but FTP and their non-hashed credentials were stolen and that won’t be a surprise to me...

Am I the only one not understanding a shit about this UX nightmare? Why is this so complicated?

Where are the CLI tools to do this stuff conveniently?
