I can't see by what logic the interviewee arrived to this conclusion. How is the presentation logic out of place in the presentation layer? Modern API/consumer based architecture make way more sense than having MVC structures where business logic, storage logic and presentation logic intertwine.

I'm a fullstack software developer with 10 year experience, living in between France and China (theses days mostly China). I am deeply passionate about solving real world problems with the cleanest and the simplest possible code. I am currently looking for a steady remote work, ideally a development studio.

For sure you can do better than zero interest rate. How about bonds, life insurance ?

On a riskier side a passive/long term investment strategy is in IMO a good way to go. Buy a few ETFs and forget about them.

Nice try but all you'll get from HN is a bump on your analytic graphs and I bet not one real user.

Anyhow I wonder how you came into pouring 200k into this idea (or maybe this is a catch number to get HN attention). Did you do any sort of validation prior to that? FYI I'd built this whole site for 5% of that budget

Thanks for the input. For the geo location I am a french Expat in china which is why I am asking HN cause they aren't much opportunities around here. I am ok to relocate for the right fit.

Started working on https://nota.io while employed as full stack dev. The idea actually came from my day to day workflow.

Quickly I found that I had trouble focusing on the job that was actually paying me and all i wanted to do is build my app. So I quit (my employer totally understood my motivations). That was 6 months ago.

Now I've launched a few week ago and I am realising that I planed a bit short budget wise, so soon I am afraid I'll have to go back job hunting. I wish i had plan for more slack.

The lesson that i've taken form that is that if you want to build a software that you are passionate about soon enough it will take all your focus. So do plan on that. Validate and plan as much as possible while keeping your day job and when you are as ready as you possibly can just take the dive! Good luck.

Actually Nota uses Iframe to display the site. The widget can not be accessed directly form the site unless you have selected the "Widget on" option when creating you project. This is defiantly save in production. There is almost no overhead of having the snippet in place.

Never heard of it. Googled it, their certificate is broken and it seems to be fetching stuff from fishy domains name. I stopped there. If you used trackDuck tho I'd love to hear your feedback about how/if it differs.

Well there is a whole bunch of value that goes with this. Event tracking, rendering of pretty damn accurate "screen grabs", reproducing of the environment.

I think you made a good point about the typical project live spam and I might be reason why people can not get to use the tool righ away. I personally see that tool being very useful for "intra team" communication as well.

Oh well I would love to hear feedback from you. As mentioned somewhere else in that bunch of comment I am more than willing to give away long term free use for any one willing to give this a serious try and share the experience with me.

The registration process is very small (basically one more field than a sign-in) and you can delete your account anytime if you are not satisfied. Once logged in you will see a tutorial that highlights the main features of Nota in under a minutes.

Well I'd give life long use to the right beta users willing to give me serious feedback. It's the very least I could do. I am currently trying that approach with cold mailing but not getting a whole lot of attention with that (actually none at all)
