How about a service with js commenting that alerts a trusted server of the comment? Server grabs the static html, appends the comment, pushes the new html to s3, bada-bing-bada-boom.

This product is almost a year old now. I never submitted it here because I felt weird asking for feedback on a product that you had to buy. Now there's a free version, so give it a shot. I would love to hear feedback and suggestions. Sales have not been stellar, but the conversion rate is good. This site has seen a grand total of 36,000 unique visitors, and I've sold over 5k copies of the paid version. To me that means I need to get it in front of a lot more people. Marketing is not my forte, so lay any ideas you have on me!

That's part of what makes it exciting! I was a hardware engineer before switching to software. At that time, we used to say to the software guys "if you guys screw up your design, you recompile; if we screw up, we have to update the schematic, update the cad drawings, order new pcb boards, wait a few weeks, and hope it works next time". The pressure made it fun. Not to mention playing with oscilloscopes and function generators. If it was a minor glitch you could get by by chopping some pins or doing some soldering. Man, that was a good first job out of college. Oh and I'm definitely ordering one of these, even though I haven't used Windows in a few years either. I've got a box with xp somewhere...

Well you can color me skeptical. This is the way I see something like this coming into being:

1. Someone thinks of the clever idea of overwriting non-affiliate urls with an affiliate url of their account. 2. In realizing that no one would ever install this, they think "how can I convince people to add this to their browser and take a cut of the profit?" 3. Charity!

Nice. I am intrigued by the leading underscore, are you just using that as a throwaway variable? You could get the username and domain on their own with:

I would be interested to see a follow up post after the honeymoon phase ends. I switched from WP to webby, loved it at first, but will be reverting soon. Static is faster, but php is fast enough for most blogs, and WP is full featured.

It is a bit straining. If you're on mac cmd+opt+ctrl+8 helps a little.
