I too have done this for almost years and it's magical. So easy to see who has been compromised. Also a great protection against phishing because "You need to update your Capital One password" that isn't addressed to "capitalone@mydomain.com" is an instant red flag.

Had it in prod for almost two years. Gonna be a long time before hashicorp or anyone else can catch up with the level of depth.

Schellman & Co have been our auditor for the past 8 years. They're very cloud-savvy and I consider them the best in the biz. They're about mid-range in price.

We use metabase too! Far superior to Mode with no cost!

It's important to note that at least some of this problem is the fault of traditional retail. Aveeno MAKES all these ridiculous size and quantity combinations (at least some of these multipacks are shrink wrapped together). When a store stocks them, they choose to stock only a few. But Amazon is giving you GLOBAL insight into all available options Aveeno makes from any distributor who has access to them.

It would be nice if Amazon could make the comparison easier for us. But in this case most of the problem is that it's simply exposing the underlying wholesale/distributor model directly to the consumer.

I don't think this article is really helpful at all. The author attacks blog posts that state the current best-practices, but then goes on to recommend several books that are even more out of date than the blog posts. (Some of the books are 'theory' books and so presumably remain 'current' for longer, but not all of them).

Second, instead of allowing sysadmins to find and follow simple, well-researched best-practices, the author instead wants each person to thoroughly research the annals of cryptography in order to then come to their 'own' conclusion. Most sysadmins won't do this. Or they will miss something or make rookie mistakes (this why you're always told not to roll your own cryptography). To put it another way: "you should not roll your own choices about which cryptography to use".

So for the other 99% who just need to get it right and move on: find the current best practices from a reputable source (like Qualys) and use those.

Totally worth it!

I've thought DNSimple has needed to raise its prices for a long time. They provide so much value and and I'd much rather pay more to help ensure that they stay around and can continue to build.

I'm extremely sad to hear about this development. Jon Siegel has a seriously bad track record of running startups into the ground. I've used both Exceptional and Hoptoad (Airbrake) extensively, but I had to switch every app I run to Airbrake because Exceptional has been stagnant for nearly a year. They obviously don't care about the product and now they'll ruin Airbrake too. :(

I'm certainly not keen on Ted's anger at Hubot. But I think he's generally correct that it is far over-engineered for what it does (as is most up-and-coming web software today). These problems HAVE been solved before!

Payne, who did you get your biz health insurance through?

I love the site, HATE the pricing. I'd really like to pay for the service, but what I REALLY need is:

1) Run several low user tests (200-300) to tweak server settings, app code, etc. 2) Then run one or two big tests (1000+) just once to see the results.

I MIGHT need this at most once a month. That just isn't worth $200 per month. I'd much prefer a subscription for the lower levels of consistent use, and then be able to purchase an additional once-off very large test for maybe $10-20 each.

Looks extremely awesome and I'm excited to play with it! Definitely fills a need.
