Steam has been the only thing I've tried LAN (other than some early PS4 remote play years ago), so that may be the issue. Geforce Now is probably the best I've tried of the bunch, so I'll give their tools a shot locally next time.

My assumption based the note that Linux Plex servers won't work with Parsec is that the emulation & streaming is done on your local network.

Either way, I've yet to have a suitably positive experience streaming anything interactive on either LAN or WAN. I see the improvements that have been made and many friends swear by it, but it may just be that I'm too sensitive to input lag and even the rarest encode/decode hiccup.

I can only imagine how many battery cycles I've lost to the BigQuery web console, especially the jobs detail views. Safari tends to be pretty great with battery life, but it's no match for that thing.

These videos are presented as real but look completely fake and staged.

First we see a winged glider being launched, but then we somehow switch to quadcopters dropping bombs with remarkable accuracy. I mean, they've even gone to the trouble of adding video game overlays at various points.

Please use as much skepticism with ISIS propaganda videos as you would with the next leaked video from Magic Leap.

After five-ish years of mostly sticking to Paleo I have a similar reaction (heart palpitations + general awful feeling) when I eat something like pizza or drink a beer. iOS 8 still requires your passcode after a reboot, so you can certainly force a temporary timeout if you'd like.

I think some advanced timeout stuff could be useful, but I wish we could try and have a bit more optimism that regular people now are excited about having an encrypted phone. The rest of us carrying state secrets and nude selfies can certainly still trade off that convenience for potentially more secure phone.

edit: Upon further digging, there is either a group of people or some automation involved, as they've not only submitted these new features, but managed to gather enough upvotes that they seem to have snuck through the system as I can't imagine this getting by any standard human review.

I've reported the shapes as spam, but when it's this easy to get something silly through in the middle of San Francisco, you have to wonder what else has been changed over the years.

You can use the IKEA catalog iOS app to see show items in your home using augmented reality. It uses the physical catalog as a reference in the camera view to determine size and viewing angle (there was an option if you don't have the catalog, but I didn't try it to see the alternatives).

Works decently well, enough so that I used it to pick out a TV stand.

Same here. There's an encoding issue with the video around 3 minutes in and the audio is off badly for the remainder of the video. I had to load the stream in VLC and offset the audio to somewhere around 2500ms using the keyboard shortcut (just keep hitting G until it matches up).

Loved my CrackBook. The black matte finish was pretty great. Used it for years—everything from doing .net dev in a VM, getting into Django, to shipping an iPhone game in the early days.

The boring nature of the architecture is notable as it puts the focus back on software, which is what people care about. That devs this generation can just make shit without discovering the complexities of custom hardware is a good thing.

Going at your premise and skipping over the fingerprint conversation: we have no evidence that the iPhone is backdoored. The NSA documents referred to scripts that were used on compromised computers that the phones were synced to, which indicates to me that they target unencrypted backup files.

The hope is more that the protocol will be published once it's stable and then FLOSS implementations can spring up. The protocol is clearly still in flux, as some versions of the client have had backwards-incompatible changes.

You may be able to do that in Sublime Text 2 with a theme (not positive, but I use themes that modify the tab appearance now).
