Did you read article? The first 4 paragraphs are about Pishevar's behavior toward an Uber employee. And at least one incident occurred at an Uber event (2014 holiday party). To say that this story has "nothing to do with [Uber]" is inaccurate or, worse, willfully blind.
Without looking at Crunchbase, please name one other investment of Shervin Pishevar that has the cultural reach of Uber. I suspect a randomly selected person would not be able to do so. And Uber has a well documented history of hostile or discriminatory behavior that hews close to the article's topic.
One other data point, the HN link originally had "Uber" in it but then it was subsequently omitted in an edit. Why the edit?
HN policy has always been to leave the title intact.
And I, for one, find his affiliation with Uber to be of particular interest given Susan Fowler's story.

Uber literally makes all their money by providing a service that people willingly consume. They are really providing lots of value.
Uber is not making money. They are burning through investor cash in excess of $2B per year in the false hope of breaking the backs of the incumbents so Uber can achieve monopolistic rents far in excess of status quo.
Riders "willingly consume" Uber because of this investor subsidy which conceals the true cost of carriage. When the easy money dries up, it's game over for Uber unless they can go full autonomous sans driver.
Uber is running out of runway and they know it. That's why they're flaunting the DMV in the rushed hopes of getting this Hail Mary to market.
Serious question: who pays an effective rate of 40 percent? Many of these huge corporate entities are in the single or negative digits.

So I'm listening to this Radiolab episode [0] about drones with cameras that can solve crime (traffic and other societal ills) and it occurs to me that with everyone soon to be walking around with DSLR-quality smartphones, couldn't we triangulate all this video/ audio data and provide substantially better resolution to daily life? Think of it as continuous Meerkat/ Periscope localized around an event in four dimensions.
