Life isn't about the brain it's about the body, brains came much later in the evolutionary process. I like tuning up the senses and tuning down the cognition, at many points overthinking doesn't help much. Often lateral thinking can offer answers.

Is consumer computing really the major demand now and going forward. Or is it senors, automation, networking, and cloud compute?

And I can almost garuentee it's better for the environment if I continue using my device or an old one rather than upgrading to the new iphone soon.

Try meetups, concerts, trivia, etc. You'll get further in your endeavors through absorbing info irl rather than trying to create from nothing.

I've had this happen at my current place, my pm kept raving about me and giving me alot of kudos. Another pm grabbed me and have a good relationship with her. It's nice to feel appreciated.

My favorite tech job was when I intered for a fire department doing fire mitigation inspections and ended up building them and appointment scheduling system in my spare time, as well as put together a geomapped report of the programs mitigation efforts to present to the county.

It's ends up breaking group messaging and Android people are left out due to the Hassel of having an Android in the group chat.

They are all impressive entities and I have high levels of trust for all of them in comparison to all the other institutions of the world and my own lone abilities.

I've looked at the other options, medicine, law, finance, your avg swe the best lifestyle, stress+time+creativiry to pay ratio, and flexibility around work.

I think the key is to get a modest sail boat like a sunfish similar size. The cost are way more manageable.

I find flexbox has a small, easy to learn and teach api that allows you to do almost any kind of web app layout that you would need to do, exceptions being grids and tables.

Css Grid is less intuitive but they do make grid gutters much much easier.

Most of the time I reach for flex box. Only when I'm doing a guttered grid would I reach for css grids.

With how hard it is to get a companies UI devs on the same technology and patterns, flexbox is an easy standard to coordinate around.

Not to mention it's better supported.

I mean it's a useful meeting and therefor not arbitrary. If that's the game they have to play with us skeptically efficient types, I'm for it. I don't have a problem working, I have a problem doing BS for appearances sake.

I've been experimenting with using Google's midi generation to be as a starting point for phrases. It's not great but can be a useful starting point. Like radiology, it seems ai can be good enough to prepare work and then have it finished by a human expert. We don't need this stuff to be human, we just need it to complement our own skills and unlock productivity/creativity that we then refine with a human context/touch.

No way, I didn't even join a frat but the idea of suffering/making memories together builds a much higher trust network than publishing work online. It's much better to have a drink and network than to network over impersonal channels of communication. Networking is about building trust. That's sometimes through displays of confidence, but better displayed by time spent and demonstrations of alignment inngoal/loyalty.

Furthermore, and I find it odd that us smarty pants math people keep forgetting this. Numbers make decisions easily justifiable. Those story points, those days tracking roadblocks. All that data, weather it's wrong or right, allows people to make decisions where they would otherwise have to justify with nebulous reasoning. The down side is, our point keep doesn't explain the reasoning behind delays and other bad numbers. Hopefully, we get better at quantizing this shit, but it's not going to go away. Their is something like a gravitational force in accountability. Those who can shirk it, to others or to numbers, must shirk it to have more power.

And honestly I'd rather blame numbers rather than people, the impersonality of bad numbers allows you retro without personal attacks and defensiveness, which allows more rapid improvement.

The triangle relationship between product Design <-> Product <-> Engineering seems so hard to get right and maintain. You need experts that can straddle these lines and make sure each branch is on the same page and their concerns are appropriatly attended to, regarding the needs of a business.

I hate blaming others, it's hard to enact productive solutions when battling against people you need to work with, I like blaming lack of processes.

How do we as engineers guide the most efficient solutions for the business problems, and in turn make our product development effective, nimble, less wasteful.

I for one have really focused on developing process around design and engineering communications.

It seems harder to make an impact between dev and product or design and product, often there is an imbalance of power and that branch is the executive and can order some really dumb and wasteful decisions if they don't have proper consult with and respect towards the other branches.

I'd rather have something like a engineering corps that could keep engineers employees during recessions when the private sector can't afford it. Almost like and engineering reserve. I'd rather have the stability than more profit.

My father is a financial advisor and holds my account. I wouldn't give him up simply because I trust him more than any human on the planet. Even so, I constantly seek out other sources and bounce my ideas about stocks, the market, the economy, politics, science and technology, so that he is exposed to thinking outside his bubble of finance and so that I can have his expert perspective to give me context on how professionals navigate with their knowledge, intuition, and analyst reports.
