How is this relevant ? We're talking about open source analytics, and this looks like a shameless plus

I'm genuinely flabbergasted to read this here.

There's no possible comparison between Musk and Mamdani's gestures, at least from the perspective of someone who grew up in a region occupied by the Nazis during the war and had him grand parents deported.

Regarding EU politician support, it's really not what you describe. The politicians he's been supporting are the ones in the rightmost spectrum of the political chessboard in each case I've witnessed. There isn't a car I've witnessed where he supported someone center right, or left.

These false equivalences are dangerous.

I wanted to try it recently and went to their doc website. Ar first glance it looked surprisingly detailed for such a young project but why not.

I didn't wanted to run a random, possibility vibe coded tool on my computer right away so I decided to run it in a container. That's an option, great ! Tu run it with docker they recommended an install script.

Out of habit I downloaded the script and started skimming through it to figure roughly what it would do to my machine.

The stuff was a mess. Most of it seemed overcomplicated code to do simple thing. Then I ran into inline python code in the shell script. That's not super elegant but there are some valid use cases, why not. Then there was inline JS code... WTF? Then we're back in inline python.

Seriously, that's just a script to run a docker compose file ! We're not yet at setting up providers or anything.

I was not to run that script on my computer, and was happy I decided to go the container way.

I got back to the website to see if they have manual instructions... They did, maybe there's hope after all ? Those instructions ended up being incomplete or broken, even for someone who does devops-y stuff on a daily basis.

I decided to drop the experiment there and it left me with the impression of a pile of code thrown together by an army of monkeys.

I hear what you're saying and it's very insightful. But I'm under the impression the libertarians have moved a lot closer to fascism I'm the recent years so it's hard to keep them in any tent. The "society has become more polarized" is an euphemism to describe an important rise of fascism across the world and in the US (that I'm not a citizen of). Yes it's polarized, because there's a side that's trying to create a political police and camps to deport everyone they disagree with as "illegal immigrants".

Circling back to EFF, I have seen many important legal issue related to digital freedom that I thought was important where they were involved. I think they're serving their mission. This decision makes sense, it's just a little bit late

I've been scrolling for a while and this is the first contact that makes sense to me. Ok, zuck has gone dark, yes tiktok governance and objectives are unclear. None of those companies are clean.

But Musk is actively *evil* and using this company specifically to serve his dark narrative and agenda. Thank EFF for quitting, was about time

That's just a drop compared to the ocean compared to this one time when he performed multiple nazi salute in front of an entire country, or when he single handedly decided to intervene in a foreign war via Star link control or when he messed with entire branches of the American government

If you had to commit to Windows quality you'd have done so a few decades ago.

Also, Linux (via Android, micro computers everywhere and the vast internet) touches way more lives then Microsoft.

At this point in the article I realized I didn't care one bit and stopped reading

I repeatedly tried to use LLMs for code but god they suck. I've tried most tools and models and for me it's still way faster to write things by hand.

I'm a magical tool, it's almost like if I knew what I wanted to do ! Don't have to spend time explaining and correcting.

Also, a good part of the value of me writing code is that I know the code well and can fix things quickly. In addition, I've come to realize that while I'm coding, I'm mostly thinking about the project's code architecture and technical future. It's not something I'll ever want to delegate I think.

I'm one of those person who were extremely pissed. I've stuck with older phones for a long time to avoid the thing.

The USB to Jack things are brittle and low quality. That's yet another stuff to not lose and carry around.

Jacks just work. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

I live and work from a van part of the year and am perfectly fine with a 4g router almost anywhere save some mountain climbing spot, so there's really no need for me. I pay about 30€ and get about 250GB when in France and 30GB whenever I enter a new country so I'm not lacking considering my usage, but thank you

Regardless of the price and the data, I'd never subscribe to this service due to the owner. I'm looking forward for alternatives from a more neutral vendor
