I think you would be interested in Google's internal memo[0] that did the rounds here a couple weeks ago. The claim is that OpenAI and all competition is destined to fall behind open-source. For me writing markdown using VSCode with with Neovim keybindings approaches that rich text and rich code environment.
Of course, when using markdown(/mermaid/tikz/etc.) creating diagrams is severely limited unlike point and click alternatives. I haven’t seen a good solution yet that isn’t too restrictive or slow.

Out of interest, on proposition B why can we not claim that the presence of a Y chromosome in your DNA makes you a "biological male" and the absence makes you a "biological female". That should be a binary division. (Where these terms are only used in the contexts you describe as being useful; no disagreements there).

I don't think caring about the user and making profits are mutually exclusive. A company that is interested in delivering what the user wants and needs will often make profit. It's not a case of 'with the user' or 'against the user'.

I use WireGuard (including WireGuard iOS) every day in Shanghai. It’s mostly fast and performant but nothing escapes the occasional “drop all UDP to your endpoint”. Typically this manifests as windows of time (typically a few minutes) where no traffic to the VPN gets through. However, unlike an openVPN solution WireGuard recovers without having to bounce the tunnel or constantly reconnect. The GFW is not a monolithic entity though so be aware that performance and blocking characteristics can vary widely between cities, ISPs, and sometimes even between cell towers.
VPN on demand features are on the iOS todo list. iOS supports the idea of making a VPN on demand for cellular or WiFi so it will be able to do what you want once that feature is merged.

But if just the email validation problem were addressed - you wouldn't accidentally pay for someone's rides. Their account would never be created as they don't have access to the email they provided. Just dealing with email validation solves both problems.
