While those exist in Germany, there are less of them and they mostly don't reach from station to station but instead near the city centers high speed trains share rails with slower trains.

I'm also always coming back to vimwiki after trying something else (mostly because I'm so used to (n)vim). I still want to give zk [1] a try though (but it's also vim based).

The one killer feature for me would be a gui for neovim that can display images. (Inserting images from the clipboard works with clipboard-image.nvim.)

The space of markdown based note taking apps is getting more and more crowded. I'm wondering how many more are sustainable, especially as many free (and open source) ones are available.

Regarding Inkdrop: this page really doesn't tell me what's their USP, why would I use this over something like Obsidian or Roam (just to name some examples)?

While the specs sound very underwhelming at first (geo-fenced on some roads, very low speeds, no bad weather), they seem to be so confident in their system, that they will take responsibility for the car when in autopilot. AFAIK, no other manufacturer does this for their systems (which capabilities they often make rather wild claims about).

Especially reading and understanding the "moderately" optimized Python version is a lot harder than reading the C version.

According to this [1], taxes on gasoline are much higher than 40 cents/litre (50 cents in Spain, 68 cents in France).

If you buy a train ticket in advance, you definitely are in that price scale. I looked up train rides one month in advance [2] and a ride from Madrid to Spain is now 175€ to 210€, right in the range of the train ride.

But hopefully, Europe-wide CO2 taxes will start to price in externalities and remove the finger from the scale in favor of flights.

Unfortunately, that's not true (the investment part). In preparation for the IPO (that never happened because of the crash) Deutsche Bahn was heavily tuned for profit since the mid 90s which led to a massive decrease in investment. As rail infrastructure has a rather long service life, a lot of those cost-cutting measures have only beginning to be felt rather recently. Now not only do the investments that have not been made have to be made up for, but the funding gap has caused the infrastructure to decay even further.

Also, a lot of money has been spent on vanity projects like Stuttgart 21, instead of much-needed extension of freight lines like the one in the upper Rhine valley.

This very much mirrors my experience.

I would like to add, that for people with little professional experience, working in a consultancy can accelerate the rate at which work experience is gained (by working on different projects, perhaps at different clients and with different technologies). This also expects a lot of commitment and willingness to learn (as pointed out in the article).

As an added benefit, one has the chance to look at the inner workings of a lot of different companies if one doesn't want to stay in consulting forever.

I'd suggest looking for data science roles. Especially consultancies hire a lot of people right out of university. Consulting is also a great way of getting a lot of experience quickly.
