we want you to disconnect from work. if you want to hang out with friends, that's cool. just don't work (which, surprisingly, lots of people have trouble doing, especially in startups)

very good point on using your mom as a beta tester. if it's easy enough that your mom can use it, you've done your job.

i think there's a cultural element to it. as a software developer, i've been in certain countries where people were mortified to provide feedback.

the one country where they'll always tell you what they think: South Africa. unbelievably straightforward.
