Very similar experience to me. I grew up in the 90s in a suburb of Dallas, TX. The most interesting things we did in elementary school was play Oregon Trail on Apple IIe and make obnoxious sounds in Kid Pix once we upgraded to iMacs. In High School, a CS curriculum existed but hardly any interest or marketing the AP CS classes were made. HTML and web development classes started to make its way in late 90s.

I have to thank Watchmen series for educating me in something I knew nothing about before.

Thank you for your refreshing point of view. I'm a mid-level software developer and I was on the other side of the table as a junior web developer and encountered this same style of questioning and embraced it. This is my go-to style when interviewing because if you are confident in the lingo and zeitgeist of development, there is no way they can bullshit there way and lie through their teeth on their own experiences. It is very easy to tell. Whiteboarding doesn't give that detection since it is too broad of a spectrum to start as a indicator of experience.

I don't understand. You say you can't experience anything that you own, but you are making a choice to decide that you can't have a choice. This is a circular dependency of logic.

A feature idea: intentionally include fake news links or fake facts (that you verified are fake of course) and add them to the website as you see fit. This will hopefully reduce bots and ill-mannered actors.

I want to reiterate the earlier commenter's words: focus. You seem to be spread thin amongst various roles in a typical software/tech company, from product manager/scrum master to developer. Hone your attention to what you really want and if you aren't sure, then start anywhere. You won't know until you try!

I'm not sure if LinkedIn is big in Australia but recruiters in America will scramble to you with offers for possible jobs if you update your profile with the latest tech and frameworks. Your non-standard background definitely will attract interest so give it a go.

Bryson's book is a great read. Definitely weaves some of the monotonous details into a compelling story. I highly suggest people read this book if they like the highlights of natural and modern history and science.

Awesome, was hoping this book would show up. I only had to read the first 2 pages to know the whole of my philosophy summed up. It is not easy to read since it requires many analogous references to really apply it, but worth the effort. Definitely re-readable.
