I think it means that it's like [Lunos](https://www.lunos.de/en/for-heat-recovery). The unit alternates between exhaust and intake every couple of minutes. The air being exhausted heats up a core, which in the next cycle warms the air from the outside. Lunos e2 is advertised to recover 90% of heat and 20–30% of humidity.

At Resilience, we're building a platform for drug and vaccine manufacturing. The company is 14 months old. We have raised $1B and bought several factories, and we're building more. Our first big customer was announced a couple of weeks ago: we are going to be making mRNA for Moderna's coronavirus vaccine.

We aim to replace the expensive, slow process of industrializing and launching a pharmaceutical production process that today is preventing many new therapeutics from reaching the market. A customer should be able to build on our network and infrastucture, similar to how we've gotten used to building on AWS for cloud computing, with full visibility.

I'm a principal engineer on our product engineering team, the group that will build the software we need to make this happen. Hiring frontend, backend, and full-stack engineers at mid to senior levels. The little bit of backend code that we have so far is in Elixir. Remote, must be in the United States.

Alacrity works well on MacOS also. It gives you enough control that you can send meta (command) properly to readline, emacs, and whatever else is running in the terminal while letting some command chords be handled outside the terminal (e.g., command-tab, copy/paste, rectangle).

I learned that the radiant heat in the bathroom floor used very little electricity compared to heavy-hitter circuits like hot water, so it wasn’t worth adjusting the thermostat schedules and give up comfort.

We use it to keep an eye on how much energy we use for grow lights in the greenhouse.

As a bonus, the electricity usage of the well pump is a proxy for water level in the well.

After 20 years of not using caps lock, two things happened in the last couple of years: (1) I taught myself to touch type "properly," and (2) I started using an IBM XT keyboard (the first layout in the linked article) with caps lock easily reachable with the right palm. Now I use caps lock and love it.

(I put "properly" in quotes because many---even most---type in a different way quite successfully. But for me, it really helped reduce the number of mistakes I made. With caps lock, I don't have to mess that up when I write LONG_UPPERCASE_CONSTANTS.)

We're using it happily at Yieldbot. We're an ad network, and the core matching technology (which finds relevant ads based on the contents of the page and decides which one to show and how much to bid) is all Clojure. All the data science stuff is Clojure (it's been great with Spark and pretty good with Storm). The data pipeline is all Clojure now. The central database for ad campaigns and such is Datomic. The APIs for the frontends are moving to Clojure.

ClojureScript never caught on for the front-end work. There are some substantial services for which Elixir was chosen instead of Clojure.

I'm not worried my own instance/droplet getting DDoSed, but DO's network being taken offline for days because of a large-scale DDoS attack directed at another customer, as happened with Linode in 2016.
