China has already been manufacturing memory and AI GPUs for a long time.

CXMT is now the world's fourth-largest DRAM manufacturer, with about 7.7% market share in 2025; YMTC has about 13% of the global NAND market.

Meituan's newly released 1.6T LongCat was trained entirely on Huawei cards. DeepSeek, Qwen, GLM and others are also actively doing domestic-card adaptation and replacement.

so far has saved my butt (and my wife's) several times from obstacles and emergencies we would not have seen.

Honestly, you need to reflect on your driving habits. FSD has only been usable for two or three years maybe? And you already encountered MULTIPLE situations requiring active safety intervention to save you during this time?

You cannot rely on the extra safety it provides. A driver with basic competence should be able to avoid most risks through anticipation before they happen.

Also interestingly, I told it: "DeepSeek told me the Jacobian conjecture is false, and gave me a counterexample. How should I treat this?"

He immediately told me that this DeepSeek was talking nonsense. Someone who can give a real counterexample "would not be a bot from an AI company, but a Fields Medal winner."

Connecting it to a Coding Agent seems much better.

I connected DeepSeek in OpenCode and told it that I dreamed of this counterexample. It called SymPy tools to verify it, said my dream was "surprisingly accurate", and suggested consulting an expert in algebraic sets for independent verification.

The speed of model releases, in my view, is actually getting faster and faster. There were nearly nine months between GPT-3.5 and GPT-4. And now in just over one month, major models already included Claude Fable 5, Claude Sonnet 5, the GPT-5.6 series, Kimi K3, GLM 5.2, Qwen 3.8 Max, Grok 4.5... and the official DeepSeek V4 release is coming soon.

Iteration speed is now measured in days.

and for now as long humans are going to judge of what counts as an elegant or illuminating proof, there's going to be work for human mathematicians

Considering ChatGPT was released only three and half years ago, and LLMs could do high school math only less than two years ago, I think this "for now" will not last very long.

They should never have allowed aircraft manufacturers to sign their own airworthiness certificates in the first place. Are there that many new aircraft types every year? What is the FAA for? Why does it not take responsibility for certification itself, instead of trusting the aircraft manufacturer’s “Trust Me Bro”?

Having trade relations does not mean China supports a country. US has always been China’s largest trading partner, but China <-> US relations can hardly be called "friendly".

The CCP government has absolute control over domestic public opinion. The pro-Russia direction on Chinese social media is very clear, although as the war became unfavorable for Putin, voices supporting Ukraine have been allowed a little more in recent years.

What the US supports is what China opposes. From Iran to Venezuela, from Gaza to Ukraine, except for a very small amount of "human consensus", it is always and will be like this.

Energy is not the main reason. China would still stand with Russia without energy.

China could never support a pro-Western Ukraine in the first place. The same logic applies to Iran, North Korea, etc.

Although China cannot directly express support because of foreign trade, things like the Communist Youth League playing "Katyusha" on the day Russia launched the invasion, and the information direction on social media, have already made their position very clear.

Qwen's team has been reorganized, and not open-sourcing also fits Alibaba's usual corporate style...

Other companies have not shown similar problems so far.

China has many government agencies and state-owned enterprises that need models which can be deployed locally. This is also part of "Xinchuang" (self-owned systems, self-owned hardware, etc. New government computers all run special Linux versions on domestic CPUs, and LLMs also need to be like this).

Commercially speaking, does Starlink really need 100x bandwidth?

Starlink's target market is limited. It is very good for ships, remote area, but not necessary in cities where most people live.

I am not sure whether the launch and maintenance cost of another 100k satellites is necessary for such a limited market, unless the cost of launch (Starship) and the satellites themselves drops greatly.

The strange names are mainly initials from Chinese pinyin. The first generation of Tencent Hunyuan was released in 23Q3, so it is already quite a veteran.

The homepage post is flooded with political arguments, this is a separate thread to discuss Grok 4.5's technology and real-world experience.
