I use my old smart phone for the things you list also. But i'd like to be more productive. Probably an ultra light laptop or netbook. I'd like to be able to code, read books, scribble ideas.. It should be in the middle between a laptop and a smart phone. It's just that there are so many brands today.

Because stories like this sell to even the lowest audience target: the lazy but dream big ones.

No matter how dumbed-down the tone, for me behind it always lies a figured out person doing smt that is definitely cool from the start.

I clearly have the mood affecting gut. If i have a sinking feeling in my chest (a devastated one), i immediately have a painful reaction in the bowel (or the gut).

So it's like chinese. One word can have several meaning depending on context. And they seem to be able to figure it out.

I use Racket & its thinking for research. I think that structured thinking is still intellectually important. So it'd still survive, as there'd still be people sticking w it.

Correlation has a formula, it detects the linear relation between two variables. So the quadratic relation is actually having zero correlation.

Second, in academic research, we mean 'correlation doesnt imply direct causation'. Because we're talking science (what's significant) not astrology (as above, so below).

I read abt this quite a bit, the refutation is attacking a small portion of the data, because that small portion is trendy and hot in politics.

Judging academically, the original paper and the refuting paper is a healthy debate, but the dynamic of the society and politics ab-use them to attack a whole school of thought at large (the austrian school: less bailout, less intervention by government, less control over everything) in favor of keynesian school (more bailout, more government spending, more public debt, especially in recession and crisis).

Anyway, it remains a controversy, because theoretically one can do what one wants, but once it involves policy and real life matters, it is hard to argue for what method is right and what is wrong, in the presence of so many (ready to b angry) interest groups.

Knowledge eventually should be free enough.

For example, in hotel industry, you open the fridge for 5seconds, that charges to the bill, and they tell you it has become industry standard everywhere, you'd eventually accept it that they're producing electricity for your service (even just 5 seconds of opening the fridge, and dont touch anything).

We call it communication as a broader classification. Then the system of sounds they make is the communication medium. Like looking in the eyes.

I think consciousness is programed to first and foremost identify your skin to be your boundary (for survival). But then, when you train to master an external tool, like a bike, you feel the boundary of the whole system to be your boundary (for example: when you're able to manage the bike at incredbly flexible level, ie you control it at will).

Same for cognitive medium (like mathematics, we are able to think in term of mathematical concept to express ourselves better in daily life matter -> we have more freedom), so augmented human seems far future, but tools are augmenting us everywhere. (Augment = expand capability). And the limit of my tools are the limit of my world.

It's also true for other-regarding preference, if you identify someone (your kid) to be yours, you can take a cost for them. Or lovers, they self-interest the joy of each other.
