my hp z210 came with 8gb ecc mem, I had I believe it's ddr3 24gb was kind of upset that the hp site said max 16gb (that's not the case) the 24gb ddr3 worked anyway. (hopefully the ram issue helps someone else) yes the mobo died a few months after so that's a downside of used equipment, but the replacement mobo was $30 + an extra $30 in case it happened again. I put a 1050 ti pci-e powered for budget gaming since I'm not made of money, works well and can multitask like crazy. I believe my e3-1270v1 3.4ghz is comparable to my old i5-2500k without the oc capability

I have a hp z210 e3-1270v1 3.4ghz, put a 1050ti mini powered by pci-e, works great for my minimal gaming needs and damn save some ram for the rest of us!

I love mx-linux, it's debian without so much work, never crashes, stays out of the way.

I used gnome2 first then xfce (loved it) and finally awesomewm (best for my uses, big screen, love the auto tiling)

I was so used to awesomewm that I couldn't grasp why i3 was any better if so.

this thread might be dead now but can someone please explain why an FPGA is such a big deal, I always see them mentioned but just don't have an idea of what they can be made into? Can anyone give project ideas of why it would be better to use on FPGA? (not sarcasm, I'm genuinely curious)

I'm on colemak and I am typing this by voice because of carpal tunnel I doubt any relation just poor posture, but I cannot type on qwerty anymore. I forced myself to learn colemak in about three months by having instant message conversations, it was a pain but it worked well I also used the provided application on Windows (typefaster)

my first editor was visual basic 6, (aim/aol/progz) days. I've seen it posted on twitter and really like the interface, I think it will be very useful, I guess we had to learn the "hard" way.
