I used to work graves and some stations would have shows at odd hours that played variety you might not hear during the day. The DJ as a curator is a role I miss. I also miss the notion someone else local was awake. Other night owls might call in and comment or make requests.

sorry if i went manic on you.
I'm curious what you asked? I had Opus 4.8 ingest the URL and give me some ideas about what's possible and it eventually got to AI and self repairing/improving factories along with listing risks etc.
The Dispossessed has one of my favorite quotes, “A child free from the guilt of ownership and the burden of economic competition will grow up with the will to do what needs doing and the capacity for joy in doing it. It is useless work that darkens the heart. The delight of the nursing mother, of the scholar, of the successful hunter, of the good cook, of the skillful maker, of anyone doing needed work and doing it well, - this durable joy is perhaps the deepest source of human affection and of sociality as a whole.”
I don't know why but I found myself thinking "Capybaras would make much more sense." And I meant it.
You're absolutely right, and they often blame the registry for the fee, but support for one of my domains once gave me the impression they inflate on top of the fee for extra profit.
Often there's a redemption period (depending on tld i think) where the domain can be recovered. Registrars will generally charge a redemption fee during this period.
I've experienced this personally while losing weight. Some people will argue for the confidence thing, and it's a factor I'm sure, but there's a palpable difference in treatment. Also the trauma/trust issues that come from being seen as 'less than' don't resolve over night, and it takes some time of that palpable change to help build the confidence.
part of my adhd/bipolar is reacting like the guy you're replying to and I was thinking the same. Comment reminded me of when I'm in the "YES THIS IS IT" mode which usually isn't far off from hitting the wall. Hopefully just projection on my part, though, and this guy is really doing well. When I start talking like him though I usually have to take a step back and it'll be a topic in therapy next session.
This is funny because one of my major gripes with everyone having phones is they don't really use them for meaningful information seeking. They'll sit in conversation and speculate and invent nonsense, accept the smartest/most convenient sounding nonsense at the table, and move on as if they did not have the ability to look it up on the spot. Then later they quote the nonsense to someone else as if it were something they learned as opposed to made up with one of their social circles.
I work in the US with white dudes who literally think their heritage is "Viking" and make it a big part of their identity - I appreciate your point but I also understand why someone might pick that title.
These creeps are what they fear, or claim to fear.
Nah I'm a guy who saw a man with a greencard dragged out of a home depot parking lot while his wife screamed and cried.
it's funny how now days you can spot a tool by how they want to make sure the nuance of the fascist prick argument is being heard. I hear it. It sucks.
Your reply brings to mind the phrase "useful idiot"
Your premise requires good faith actors to even merit consideration.
ah yes, this admin has been an avalanche of crimes and abuses, but let's keep giving them the benefit of the doubt and making excuses.
Part of the strength came from trust and participation in a community. The US has become untrustworthy and hostile toward community.
"I am all for criticizing and pointing fingers at trump and this entire administration"
I don't believe you or you wouldn't have bothered to muddy the water in the face of repeated violence and dehumanization.
We need to expect more from our business leaders.
I assume if someone works for Palantir they're an unabashed Yarvinist and fine with it.
"The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs. Haven't we learned our lesson? The corner store sells finer scotch. But who's got uncut powder?" - NOFX
English was Germanic - we get our Latin influence from Old French https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Influence_of_French_on_English
If you're sensitive to patterns and have been chronically online for the last few decades it's obvious they are not thinking.
It seems off-putting and absurd to me. Especially given the result is neither super nor human.
"not even Devil can help you.
But maybe, juuuuust maybe, AI can?"
Bold assumption that the devil and AI aren't aligned ;)
I'm not a republican or a supporter, but my experience with your request is "But what about...?" Usually something robbed of context, not relevant, or blatantly made up and they don't care. For instance when the GOP Nazi group chat came out, some asked why "The Left" wasn't writing similar articles about people who disrespected Charlie Kirk's death. Malicious bad faith at worst and short sighted ignorance at best.
It's also striking to me that these folks cried hard about free speech when being deplatformed for harmful lies, but they're revoking visas for people who didn't show proper remorse for a conservative podcasters murder. Everything this administration and its supporters do is in bad faith. It's exasperating.
He donated to Biden, but had no registered party. Congrats, you're part of the insanity.
I'm sort of grossed out by people trying to blame a party for this in general, though. It's weird.
In Arizona one example is the Hohokam: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hohokam
They built canals for farming and understood how to use wild plants. Other cultures ( Akimel Oʼodham for one) are also interesting to read about how they lived.
I doubt it'd be different if he didn't - this is the sort of thing to which his entire administration is committed. Life's not going to get better if Vance takes his place. Not saying it should be ignored, just int he context of this discussion I don't see it mattering
