Love this! Making things in PICO-8 is my go-to when I'm burnt out on client work.

Once upon a time, it was like a breath of fresh air. Originally pitched as a dev-first payment API, it was vastly easier to get up and running than other options at the time. In recent years it has suffered under the weight of its own success. The simplicity and ease of use it once promised has been buried beneath a now-bloated and obtuse API. The user interface has struggled to keep up with the feature creep and it too has become a challenge to navigate and interact with. The documentation, once considered an industry-leading example of how to write and present such things, has mutated into a frustrating byzantine mess that's riddled with contradictions and obvious omissions.
As an early adopter and someone that was once very fond of this company and its approach to things, I'm disappointed to see the direction it has gone.
I live in the US and have an electric kettle. I was made aware of their existence in my travels abroad. It was a game-changer. Even with our electrical standards my kettle can get to boiling in a mere minute or two.
Slack is continuing to have issues this morning. You know it's bad when even the status page is down.
My friend's roommate dated him and I used to hang out at their place a lot in Brooklyn. Super nice guy! It was in the years after this happened, and he was still typing stories for strangers. I respected that then, and I continue to now.

It's really easy to connect to the device over SSH. Just open the tiny cloud app and read the directions on the screen. On my macbook I just open terminal, type 'ssh cpi@<ip address>' and the password is also just 'cpi'. As for creating native games, that's not really the intention with this thing. It's more for running fantasy consoles on or running any of the many included emulators. I use mine to playtest my Pico8 games and play new releases.
I bought a red Gameshell to playtest my Pico8 games on. I love it. High quality kit with solid directions and an active community. At some point I discovered that I could reskin the UI to look like a Teenage Engineering OP-1 and also play Sega Genesis games and now it lives permanently on my coffee table (proof: https://lewsid.com/gameshell.jpg). My only complaint would be the limited battery life.
I had the exact same experience (even down to releasing my first game during lockdown)! The whole process of developing in Pico 8 is like digital therapy for me. It reminds me what excited me about coding all those years ago before it became a career.

It's a free/subscription-based tool that views sites from a number of locations from around the world, sending back a screenshot and DNS information. Originally launched in 2013, it's been profitable since 2014 and requires very little care-and-feeding while it serves up around 225,000 queries a month.
I'm currently working on an overhaul which will dramatically improve its feature set and will, with any luck, engender even more interest among enterprise-level users.
Dammit, I was really excited about this too. Here's to hoping somebody reposts about it when the ST3 version is official...

I was in an Uber this morning headed to Charles de Gaulle airport and got to see this all first hand. Hundreds of taxi drivers stopping traffic and flipping off the police while stalling traffic for a bunch of unlucky motorists.
My driver pulled the car over as we approached the airport. He asked me get into the front seat, and then told me we had to act like friends if we were forced to stop and end up getting harrassed. He then went to the trunk and pulled out a pair of his normal clothes and changed right there on the side of the road (Uber drivers are easily recognizable thanks to their fancy attire). Upon settling back into the driver seat, with a big smile and a thick French accent, he said, "I am Batman."

Premium features are being worked on as I type this. The one I'm most excited about will be the ability to schedule 'peeks' at a site. Load times, pings, email notifications and browser agent tweaks will be also be included. I'm also toying with providing html/js/css file diffs over time. So much to do!

Updates are in progress that will let you do all sorts of tweaks to the agent, even the DOM.
I built a similar tool called GeoPeeker (http://www.geopeeker.com) that does this as well, but does so from a number of different geographic locations. Handy for trouble-shooting DNS and CDN issues. I too submitted it to Hacker News but alas, it found no love. C'est la vie!
