The USA has "boys homes" that do this. As a child, I attended one such place where we all had to grow our own vegetables, to this day I can grow vegetables.

Privatized prisons (in the USA) are money makers, holding mostly low to medium risk offenders, you can even buy shares on the stock market.

With more police on patrol there will be less crime. Spend less money on prisons and more money on local police force.

I do not think this study can prove that carbonated soda causes weight gain, let alone obesity. People (and apparently mice) are not all "built" the same. Obese people need more exercise (or just plain movement of the body) than those who have less weight on their bodies, "it's not rocket science".

Add metal detectors, wands, and barbed wire to the mix and you'll really know what it's like for some inner city high school kids (like myself once upon a time). Kids today have more time away from school than I did, I had more time away from school than my parents did, this article wasn't much of an eye opener, sorry.

Personally, high school is a waste, a transition period for students to truly find what they want out of life; in my opinion.
