Just for some further context. Plough is a publication of the Bruderhof community which is Christian but in a much more radical sense than mainstream Christianity (no private property, radical non-violence, etc.).

I've visited their community in upstate NY and really enjoyed it.

yeah, those are interesting questions. I assume either they hold the wallet or some exchange they are using behind the scenes.

It would make a lot of sense if you could start using your Square Cash Card funded by BTC. That would be cool from a long term vision.

I've been using the Shift Card for a few months which functions like a debit card but is funded from my BTC on coinbase.

I'm surprised the author left out payments. SMS is the simplest way to facilitate non-POS transactions. We've built our company on that, kindrid.com.

Very cool.

But when you say "app" what exactly does that mean? Can it just be a web app that you save a shortcut to? Or is this actually a native app?

I can see how some of it does read as "fluff" or cliche, it probably would be more beneficial if I did a short paragraph on how I learned each point.

Apple iBeacons 13 years ago

I have to imagine iBeacons could be more about the iwatch than the iPhone. I don't want to take my phone out of my pocket all the time to check for new notifications. I would glance at my watch.

Although their pricing is a bit high I feel there is clear trend supporting higher price for convenience.

This is the same trail that Stripe blazed. For a little bit of work I could get my own merchant account setup with much lower processing rates but the ease of integration and time savings is worth the cost.

I don't see Lob being that useful for people already doing printing. But I do see it offering a simplicity that will enable a whole new set of business to use printing in creative ways (ours included). Again, somewhat similar to Stripe.

This is a great idea and I think it will be successful, nice work.

However, I wonder how the ability for anyone to ask for money for anything is going to impact the crowdfunding market over time. It seems as the tools become more accessible crowdfunding fatigue will get stronger.

I'm really surprised by the number of people trying to solve the author's problems. I don't think he posted this because he didn't have any good ideas on how to hire someone or wanted copy help on his hiring page.

I think he posted it because sometimes the most helpful thing is knowing that you're not the only one who wakes in the middle of night thinking about payroll and customer acquisition. I think he's wondering if other people have doubts and struggles. And anyone trying to start a company right now would know that as soon as they read it.

So, yes Jason, this is how it's suppose to feel and it's okay that it sucks. Just remember, you're more important than your work.

Love the app and just downloaded it. I do airport runs all the time for my roommates. Really beautiful.

I think this functionality (mobile first, crowd funding / group payments) could quickly become a more important feature than the group texting.

Great work.

Our Magic 14 years ago

I think (judging purely from the pictures) his point is that they attempted to integrate the whole supply chain instead of sourcing from local stores and delivering.

This idea of friendship is heavily influenced by a western consumeristic culture. Friendship is a transaction, only worth it if we are getting an equal or greater amount out of it. The irony is that when friendship is thought of in this way it ceases to be friendship. It's simply another commodity.

True friendship is based on a covenant relationship. I will be with you no matter what and therefore I am your best friend.
