"Levandowski clearly has a gift for self driving technology and is probably one of the few people in the world who could spend a year with 20 collaborators and come up with a fully self driving product. He clearly demonstrates a deep knowledge of the autonomous driving landscape and its future.
But he’s also clearly a flawed individual who not only ran off with a bunch of company secrets from Google after taking boatloads of its money, but also he’s run afoul of regulators on numerous occasions and locations. It is going to be hard for any individuals and companies to put their drivers behind Pronto.ai with this past in mind. His “religious” beliefs may also cause some concern."

Accredible is looking for a Full Stack Developer to continue building the best credentialing system in the world. A close, dedicated startup team who are passionate about improving the education system and backed by some of Silicon Valley’s top venture capital investors. 4 hours per week (paid) to spend learning anything you like, even if it’s not related to your role, plus a budget to spend on materials. A promise to invest in your growth personally and professionally. Wherever you’d like to go and whatever you’d like to do we’ll be there to support you. Your Role & Responsibilities
In the past three years we’ve built the best credentialing product in the world. Universities, associations, tech companies and others are able to create, deliver and manage tens of thousands of digital certificates and open badges with just a few clicks. We’re continuing to make this product as good as it can be and have been laser focused on the needs of credential issuers. Now we’re ready to start focusing on credential recipients; the people who take part in learning and then receive a certificate or badge.
Your role will be to build a great product for certificate recipients. You’ll be helping them to upload their own certificates, send transcripts to third parties, embed their certificate wallet in a website, view course recommendations that help them skill up, etc. You’ll be able to have a huge impact for thousands and thousands of users.
You won’t be doing this alone as we have a world-class product team you’ll be working with. You’ll have support from a designer, a back-end engineer, a project manager and another front-end engineer.
Compensation & Benefits £40,000+ salary + equity, depending on experience. Flexible hours & comfortable with working from home 2 days a week.
Your skills
We are looking for you to demonstrate to us that you have these skills:
Full stack engineering ability. You’ll be working in, AngularJS 1.6, Ruby on Rails, HTML, SASS and Javascript. Design and UX support is be available but you’re comfortable building and maintaining product features that go from front-end to back-end. We think you’ll spend more time writing AngularJS than anything else. Project management. You’ll agree with the team on your priorities and then you’ll take a leading role in planning and maintaining sprints to keep projects organised and to communicate effectively.

Hey,
Just curious is this offer for other people also? I am working on this https://github.com/deependersingla/deep_portfolio (first version open sourced) and before open-sourced this https://github.com/deependersingla/deep_trader (255 stars). I was using GTX 980-TI locally but system crashed two weeks ago. I am basically trying to find a RL agent which automatically optimize momentum strategy look_back period and generate portfolio according to optimisation one set on reward function. More can be read on project Readme. Thanks.
yeah, he started with it but didn't learn much.
I wonder how many meetings are getting cancelled because of it :).
I agree with you. I work for Education company Accredible. We use Elasticsearch hosted on AWS for employment directory based on student data. It's working perfectly for us from last one year, very happy with it.
Does Google cloud work in china?
What will be the difference between Reinforcement learning and Genetic Algorithm? The stackoverflow question here has mixed responses http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12411197/can-evolutionary.... According to me I have implemented Reinforcement learning once http://somedeepthoughtsblog.tumblr.com/post/134793589864/mat..., they look same as both boils down to exploring and exploiting the environment for maximum reward.
I feel author somehow saying just badges for crediblity is wrong, it has to be compared what we have today in university as credibility. It is just a pdf certificate and a grade point with university name. It doesn't distinguishes student very well.
With people moving towards online education there will be much better education data gathering and much better way to present them. Kevin carey pointed out this https://accredible.com/10000005 for replacement of current education certificate for data gathering about student learning and then using the data collected in better way for analyzing student performance and for employablity. P.S (I work at accredible as SE)

I think the same article was on hacker school website also?
This looks great, vik.
Yes, bad cable.
Irony, I am in apple repair center while writing this. I have a 9 month old macboook within span of 6 months the connector cable between hard disk and logic board got corrupted, I have no idea why this happened twice (even the apple customer rep. are also clueless) . As they don't have any warehouse in New Delhi(India), they order it from Bangalore(India) and take 5 days to replace it last time and same this time,. Anyone having idea why this hard disk cable corruption issue is happening again and again?
and they are back in india.
I am quite unsure about the entire concept, but I went to Facebook and a lot of people who are/were not getting investor funding was sharing this :).
Will be glad to know , what you learnt from it?
One Great example for above will be Jiri One: A Japanese Master chef for shushi, I would say if there is only one documentary you will see this month. Let it be this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiro_Dreams_of_Sushi
@mblevin Completely agree with this. I went throught this from a startup perspective.
great stuff.
What a good response, I first read sam article and agreed to him but with good response changed a lot. I still feel there is a problem with life that is tradeoff. Lets see right from the start when we are born in this world we don't have any thoughts or goals nothing. The world start giving us reality. Suppose most of the people here on HN will want to be a better programmer and improve themselves. In Programming they find something good. Ideally as they were born with nothing so how they can say this is actually they want, so when people say this is what they really want I think they still say what the world them to say. Now the next point come when people make decision and then repent, its a tradeoff. Suppose Right now someone have option of doing a PHD in Physics( which is my passion) and other to roam across world in some job( which also he wants). He choose PHD and after 10 years he say he didn't satisfied with PHD he must have took the job, I feel we human always do that because we enjoy the first think and now we will say we didn't enjoy it much and want other think. Yes, I agree people say that enjoy their work and is in resonance with it because they don't have some equal tradeoff to make their work for them is given to world by them as a best thing.
