What I've learnt so far with having teenage kids in Australia is that parents are stupid. They are still allowing their 12, 13 year old daughters to access apps such as TikTok and Snapchat. Just because their other school friends are on it.
Across the country, electric cars Australians might consider to be luxury items are now standard issue vehicles in China. Massage seats, big screens and even fridges are the minimum requirement for Chinese EV drivers and with charging stations at shopping centres that can recharge a battery in under 5 minutes, there’s no such thing as range anxiety.

I started as an apprentice electrician at 16 years old way back in the late 1980's for a large company. I believe the reason I was successfully offered the apprenticeship was due to bringing to the interview my completed and working LED VU meter Dick Smith electronic kit (big in Australia at the time). It was something real they could hold and look over. I remember them spending a fair amount of time looking over my soldering, cutting of component legs and wiring. Then asking a few basic electronics questions. Something real pre-internet to stand out from the crowd :-)

I've used Linux for many years in my work environment but rarely at home. I recently installed Mint on a 15+ year old Dell. It is our only device with a DVD and this week my wife asked if I could rip an old home movie DVD. I googled a DVD ripper for Linux. I found Handbrake and with the Minute software manager application it installed seamlessly. I ran the software, stuck the DVD and within 30 minutes, the 2 hour movie had been saved to an mp4 file. Very impressed!!

Also, I can't count how many times from just strolling through the local library I've picked up a book which has caught my eye, borrowed it and thorougly enjoyed the book. I'm really looking forward to this after reading all 3 books a few years ago. I tried to watch the Chinese TV version last year but lost interest.
Everyone is using Mastercard, Visa etc. It is not obvious most of the time but numerous places add a merchant fee without you knowing. The $4.50 coffee you purchase costs more as they place a 1% (?) fee on top of the price. Also, when I do need cash, I am finding it harder and harder to find a bank ATM as the banks are closing branches everywhere. The 3rd party ATM's are everywhere but you get stung with a $2 fee (at a minimum).

All it took was a work truck across the road from my house caused my WiFi, Zigbee alarm system to start sending "Jam Detected" notifications to my phone. I assumed his CB Radio was the cause.
I'm right handed but I hold my phone with my left hand. Am I in the minority here?
