We really need to establish a universal basic income before jobs are replaced. Something like two thousand a month. And a dollar for dollar earned income credit with the credit phasing out with at a hundred grand. To pay for it the tax code uses GAAP depreciation and a minimum tax of 15% GAAP financial statement income. This would work toward solving the real estate problem of private equity buying up all the houses as they would lose some incentive by being taxed. I'm a CPA and I see so many real estate partnerships that are a tax loss that are able to distribute huge book gains because accelerated depreciation.

I have MS and definitely didn't know that the secondary progressive form of the disease was just a matter of time. Now I'm slowly losing the right side of my body after years of being in remission with numbness in my hands being the only symptom. There are definitely medical advances. The one I'm most excited about is nervgen. It's regenerative without the radiation and terribleness of stem cells. But it's only starting phase two trials. Hang in there, it sucks but the doctors reassure me that it's a good time to have MS as thirty years ago there were no treatments. Now there is the walking pill to help nerves conduct and it really works for me. There are also dmts that slow the progression or stop future lesions.

I'm a CPA and I recommend my extremely small businesses clients use a single entry excel system. If they use debit for everything they can download the bank transactions in csv. Then use a deep downlist to categorize the transactions. Then a pivot table to display the year end or quarterly income statement. I usually send them the Excel with the pivot table and dropdown list.

I'd love to see a follow up of your decision and out comes. Possibly a tellHN later on. The advice in these situations seems pretty consistent in this unfortunate situation. Document, Lawyer, fire, support. If you do follow up id be particularly interested in the outcome of the support piece of the puzzle and how to balance group dynamics associated with the affected party in the aftermath. Any kick back...etc.

The calculation is (net income - preferred dividends/ weighted average common stock outstanding) = eps. Eps is on the income statement, face of financial statements and will go up if wacs goes down. Common stock out standing doesnt include treasury stock, stock repurchased by the company.

I was at the bmw plant in munich and they said the plant was 98% automated. The guy said they did need someone to go around and change the welding tips every 8 hours.

I think it is really inaccurate to say that the work of a writer and the work of a psychologist are very different. Both require abstraction and a framework to define the narrative.

My brother is an Er physician and yesterday we are all together and our dad is changing his hearing aid battery at the table. My brother points down at the battery on the table and says be careful thats a baby killer explaining that once swallowed the kid almost always dies.

I'm on the bus today and the lady behind me is talking to another about facebook and how she finds it kind of scary that they are suggesting friends to her that she knows and she hasn't given them any information about where she went to school. Then when the wonderment and fear of friends of friends didn't catch, she pivots to I hate facebook. The reason being that its such a time sink.

MySpace was started so the guys could spam users with Viagra ads and diet pills, seriously.

Facebook is keeping closer to its mission which is to let people find and view/share the lives of their dare I say friends.

I strangely would love you to win your five bucks. However Facebook's cash position and willingness to purchase everything that poses a threat isn't changing. It's bizarre to me the number of people I know who are done with facebook. Closed up account. I don't have facebook. I have instagram.

It's common now for parents to put their kids in Kindergarten at the age they used to start first grade. My kid just made the cutoff but my wife wants to hold him back and some of his friends parents with kids born in January or march are holding their kids back a year.

The thing that is silly about that is related to cost of acquisition and retention of customers. If a company is able to get more data quicker they are more valuable to the customer and will most like be used and retained by the customer. If organizations are offering storage as a solution while at the same time trying to minimize the costs of that solution, by minimizing the utilization of that storage; they are exchanging fixed costs associated with storage (that should be easily built into pricing) for large variable costs related to customer acquisition, retention, and branding.

The MLK thing is amazing to me. We celebrate this person every year as a national event but unlike are presidents his speeches are under enforced copyright so nobody hears his famous thoughts or words. Even on his day people reference the I have a dream speech but nobody hears it or even references portions of it. It's a weird shadow of remembrance.

dominance could be attributed to quality. The truth is that most children's books are "bad"

I couldn't agree more. We get about ten to fifteen children's books a week from the library and I'm utterly amazed that most have been published. The ones that are part of a more common series are usually much better. The llama llama mad at mama sort of books. Dr Suess definitely falls into this higher quality bracket. Many times I have wondered if they spend more time writing the about author section then they do the book. I see this as a market that could use some serious improvement.

Benefits of Sarcasm 11 years ago

Other research has show that sarcasm can be easily misinterpreted, particularly when communicated electronically.

I can't tell if the comments thus far are sarcastic.
