Q: What happens if the startup does well after the safe and doesn't need to raise any money and doesn't have a liquidity event? Are the safe investors stuck with a security which does not derive any economic (e.g., dividends) value and they don't have any control?

For instance, if the BRCA-related risk assessment for breast or ovarian cancer reports a false positive, it could lead a patient to undergo prophylactic surgery, chemoprevention, intensive screening, or other morbidity-inducing actions, while a false negative could result in a failure to recognize an actual risk that may exist.

I cannot imagine someone getting surgery or chemo solely based on a 23andme heads up warning and without consultation with a specialist physician.

As someone working in medical devices, this dramatic language is extremely frustrating.

You've nailed it!

I should have been clearer in my post and maybe titled the post "Not having co-founders sucks".

That's how I also started. After too many unshowered days eating cereal, I decided I needed to get an office :)

I am not yet 100% comfortable giving up our office. But we have some extra desks and we are located in a very nice part of town. I think offering these to interesting local entrepreneurs might achieve a similar goal.

If you are en entrepreneur interesting in a space in Old Montreal, leave your contact info here and I'll contact you.

Seems from the comments that coding is an activity particularly well suited to working alone.

There is a difference between general human interaction and specifically having a peer working with with you on a common goal.

So it turns out that you guys don't support Quebec. 2 things: 1) When are you planning to roll out that feature? Is it possible to sign up as a beta user now? 2) In the spirit of transparency, this should have been made clear before I signed up.

As you imply, there are segments in every market. Of course there is a segment of companies with hundreds or even thousands of employees with gigantic budgets. These guys are going to do RFP's and spend months evaluating the different payroll providers.

Then there is the segment of small guys lik me who have under 10 employees who frankly don't need anything too complicated. You can say "I am only going to serve large enterprise customers through a complex sales process" and that's completely fine with me. But don't pretend to cater to my segment if you are not to adapt your model.
