In your very long forthcoming career you will find very few moments of clarity. Take it from a veteran of this industry - take it easy , have fun , keep the focus on being productive and objective. You cannot control much more than that and there are always many forces at work which you might not even have an idea about. So relax and don’t take it too personally. Good luck!

One have to choose their fights in life. You cannot fight each and everything or you will go insane. - Ancient wisdom.

From the article -

“ The double pendulum has the special property that very small changes in initial conditions result in very large changes in eventual outcome. And that means small approximation errors compound much faster than we can deal with them - the system diverges**.”

- isn’t this just a problem of lack of computing power rather than weakness of the equations themselves. Imagine that there one unit change in the source results in a 1000 new combination , but having computing power that can scale horizontally can solve it. I am aware that current computing power (even in the cloud) is limited , but in future we may have quantum computing or something similar that can accommodate modeling these kind of divergence problems.

The real problem is not the technology but the mindset. Simply follow the twin principle of live and let live AND do no harm to others. Have a moral compass. You don’t need to be religious or even spiritual for this. Just understand that this is best for you in the long run.

Why do someone need to move to SFO in the first place? Jobs are plentiful nowadays everywhere. So it’s not that for tech jobs one need to move to SFO. Yes one may want to live in Hong Kong , Singapore , Dubai , Mumbai , Paris or SFO but like all over the world certain places have higher per square foot cost than other places.
