I'd also say that a school denying access to this information should rightly expect pointy and sharp questions coming at them. Parents being part of the education system shouldn't come as a surprise to a school. It would be like hiding the school timetable.

Usual common sense caveats still apply: Privacy and authentication are still valid aspects but not to block those who could reasonably expect to successfully authenticate, eg a parent of a kid in school.

Now put a raspberry pi in there. Emulate the cpu etc. This approach worked for the 68k, eg PiStorm.

Don't even necessarily need it to be an x86 emulator. Use the motherboard as an oddball I/O facility. An ARM machine (ab)using ISA cards would be an odd duck. Throw in a software x86 emulator with a bridge to the ISA bus for added compatibility. Of course there are simpler ways...

All that said, I'm not sure exactly what the benefit really is other than having a cool project. But thats maybe the point. Maybe that's enough in itself.

Sure. The bigger questions are:

Why did you comment? What got your attention? Did your comment improve the situation? There's likely a pattern so look for it and decide if its worth keeping. Is it really you being you?

Why were you seeking out this negativity? Is this the best way to live? All the time you spend in negativity is time you are not spending positively. There's a significant opprtunity cost here.

Procrastination also often involves distraction. Negativity tends to come along for the ride as well.

Knowing why people flag / downvote something is more interesting.

I don't see a need for knowing who did what, but knowing the patterns on the other hand would be very interesting. As a hobby data enthusiast I'd love to have a data feed of flagging / downvoting / upvoting without actually knowing the names. Even playing with historical data from six months ago or whenever submissions get locked would suit me.

Anonymising that data might not be easy but the graphs from it would be fun to explore.

I'm fairly sure this is an issue with at least all the western democracies. Not to mention other countries. That issue includes housing that is used as an investment, eg kept empty / kept high priced. Then there's the unsuitability of a lot of housing, eg not enough rooms, too many rooms, poor locations.

If your employee, nanny, maid, servant or dogsbody has a one hour drive to get to work each morning, don't expect them to stick around if they can change to a better opportunity.

The great resignation sums this up nicely. Why work there when I can work here?

Those phytoestrogens play some interesting games. As does a liver with damage caused by alcohol. Add to this the irony of all the advertising around beer being a predominantly "man's drink" and it gets even more interesting.

As long as the notch is handled by the OS and software I doubt it will be a real issue. I've got a circle in the corner on my moto phone screen for the camera and I literally don't care. That circle buys me extra pixels the height of that camera for the full width of the screen. Doesn't impact movies or anything. Nice.

Personally, this is the least of Apple's "problems" if you want to call them that. Having seen how easily serviceable Framework's laptops are, I think Apple need to rethink their designs.

While I fully get the whole at-scale limitation that Apple operates in, I no longer see non-removeable batteries or other parts, eg ssd, as a necessary aspect of laptop manufacture. Its now going to be an indicator of just poor design. If Framework can make something that is serviceable then Apple should be able to innovate much better.

I don't even think this is actually an engineering decision or problem. Its a business/design one.

Their reasoning is that you should stop buying luxury superyachts each year and focus on your health. Its about priorities!

On a related note, dentistry is another one that is usually not covered at all. Why even basic dental isn't covered by government healthcare as a prevention initiative still surprises me. Bad teeth can kill you / give you cancer / wreck chaos and damage organs in general etc and its all often detectable at early stages.

Pardon my ignorance, but doesn't Google/Apple have the ability to examine compiled code as hosted on their servers? This implies Google/Apple themselves can perform static and dynamic analysis at their leisure. There is therefore no concept of "remove just before" or otherwise a form of slight-of-hand.

Are we still operating under the illusion that Google/Apple have no capability for having suitable tooling around this? I find it difficult to believe. Especially for finding unofficial api use and similar shenanigans.

Would have liked built-in networking but I see it has the concept of devices so there's plenty of scope for enhancement if needed.

Wow. History hasn't been kind. As is often the case around limited-mindset thinking.

Well. No. Multiple air crashes across the world relied on recordings as a key part of their investigation. Especially when a plane lands in the Hudson, just to name one example.

This is very telling:

History wasn't kind here either. Just try and take off in a jet from a commercial airliner without the various safety equipment installed. The insurance companies alone will try to eat you alive, let alone every other agency.

There's definitely a repeating theme around safety equipment and authority/authority figures. The ridicule at the start is definitely a common starting point. Seat belts and air bags were both ridiculous inventions. Then they weren't. Then they became required.

There is a LOT to unpack when you assert work is demotivating. I've generally found when mentoring that bad management is common and terrible managers are also common. This is a real cause of demotivation for plenty of workers.

Turning up every day to some mini hellscape created by nasty people and money / need for money then becomes the only reward. Those are the biggest causes of demotivation right there.

Prime example: deliberate hiring to fire. No one should be advocating that. Its incompetance. A real ethical organisation would be investigating who hired the person and who managed the person. Then seriously consider firing them as well. Minimum action is to reduce rewards, eg bonuses, as penalty. Hiring done well is expensive. Hiring poorly implies something bad in the hiring process. Why tolerate that?

If just moving the product has this much effect it shows just how powerful brand perception is and how nuanced it can be. If you're a student of media / propaganda this is a textbook basic example of product placement and its importance.

It may seem obvious but the implications are immense. This kind of insight underpins just about every advertising campaign in some way. This is not a trivial example at all.

This is how lucative having those bottles positioned just so is to these companies. It also says a lot about how persuasive this kind of placement really is.

A webassembly CPU in a FPGA could be quite a thing. Not sure how fast, but perhaps the processor could be implemented as an accelerator of opcodes generated by having WASM transformed into something at a lower level. Direct execution might be too slow. Still, speed isn’t everything and first generation doesn't need to be for prime-time.

Bigger question is: is this useful? Does it have an actual application that can drive it forwards? A solid yes to that question shoves all the others to the side.

Useful might at first just mean "hey its going to run my blinky lights using WASM instead of arm/avr/etc!" If so, then you already have a winner as soon as it hits the FPGA bitstream flash. From there you can add support for all those pmods on your dev board and off you go.

Looks a little like some Impostor Syndrome mixed in with inexperience mixed in with too high expectations on yourself. Perfectionism isn't a worthwhile attribute and is the enemy of shipping on time.

If you keep messing up the PRs then maybe look at some that were successful. Perhaps something they did that you aren't? Or didn't do but you are?
