I took glycinate for a while. Deep sleep with lots of dreams. But soon followed extreme pressure in head with severe headache that i completely stopped.

my own anecdotal experience with magnesium : i was generally prone to leg cramps even when young that usually subsides when i take salty water. i had developed hyperthroidism in late 90s that was treated eventually with radio-iodide. subsequently i went into hypothyroid state. soon after was a violent cramps episode which became regular that even if i took few hundred steps my legs would start cramping up. A steep descent into quality of life had me try many many tests as the initial suspicion was some kind of clot. Quite painful nerve conduction velocity tests were done. I was the subject of academic curiosity at stanford hospital. I was on codeine and other pain medications. After a year of this, one day happened to talk to a regular doctor (no specialization), who treats patients from asian subcontinent. He said that i may have magnesium deficiency which was apparently common for my ethnic background. Since by that time i had tried everything, this was an easy choice. Just a couple of weeks in with cal-mag citrate (400mg/day), felt something different in my legs and the whole nigthmare just lifted. I was able to return to hikes etc and would only occasionally need magnesium. It has been 2 decades since, and i dont take magnesium anymore and do strenous workouts and never again triggered any cramps episode.
we tried many avenues here as well 1.vitamin deficiency (she is vitamin D deficient, but it seems common in my race - asian 2. iron deficiency 3. gave magnesium for a while 4. someone diagnosed her for adhd and others disagreed 5. tested for autism. 6. tested for thyroid 7. took some T3/T4
i am thinking we will self pay an MRI.
For a person (my daughter) who has tried everything under sun (except ECT and psilocybin)for depression and OCD and nothing ever seemed to help, what is the latest on treatment horizon?
years ago doing similar thing found out my type2 diabetes when i was 24. It has been a life saver since i am able to manage it before any complication.
One reason i find these posts useful is if you are at wits end and desperate. My daughter has been diagnosed with depression (and ocd and anxiety). We have tried multiple medications, therapy (CBT, ERP), TMS(self paid because the f#ing insurance wont cover at the time), probiotics,.. Nothing has seemed to help. I look for any avenue that i can explore that brings her relief. Now i look at a comment for poor methylation and that is something we havent checked. Maybe it will help. As long as we always do it with medical professional advice, there is good in knowing the issues involved. No one cares more than the person and family suffering.
a sleep specialist told me, i am ovetthinking and i cannot will sleep into existence. He recommended that i do cbt-i. He emphatically ruled out physical tiredness does not necessarily mean mental tiredeness. As i mentioned cbt-i for most part worked, but when the next day there is a significant event, i cannot sleep a wink. I was told (by my primary) to take some anti anxiety pills that did not help much. i dont like sleeping pills as i feel groggy next day almost as if i never slept, even melatonin has that effect.
Due to health conditions, i do cardio 60 min/day every day. dumbbell weight training 3x/week. Vegetarian by bringup, didnt try anything new nutritional, because no one suggested.
I have always had insomnia for 20+ years. It all started with becoming hyperthyroid and subsequently hypo (with radio iodide). I was able to bring it under control with cbt-i. But i find that if i have a special event (it could be a day trip, meeting etc) next day, i cannot sleep even a wink. And sure enough suffer the next day. The best i can describe the feeling when trying to sleep is either sitting in a tree branch and not trying to fall or driving and trying to stay alert. I have managed so far, but i am not able to sleep before any job interview while i am trying to change job. (all the leetcode questions are not helping)
did you check your thyroid levels.
when the cas (compare and swap) succeeds in user space, the subsequent futex call to wait will not be made, i suppose.
I had a different problem. On my wife's account she started receiving someone else's emails. Initially we suspected that her email was wrongly(typo) used in registration at various sites. But increasingly we noticed that the conversations in the mails were ongoing, implying continued usage of her address. We suspected her email was hacked and changed password, that didnt help. Eventually she had to abandon that email. The problem with free mail service is that the support you get is what you pay for.
what do HN folks think about efforts of Dr david sinclair of https://sinclair.hms.harvard.edu/ ?
i dont know about this. i cant get on the treadmill/elliptical unless there is some soccer match or action film streaming on the tv.... I could focus on the pain of doing exercise but that seems to be counter productive...
(circa 2012) i bootstrapped a company that connects people searching for information to providers of said information in a real time chatroom created for the duration of the query. This is to solve pogo sticking when the website information is too dense (say search for quitclaim deed without knowing too much about it). I failed to get enough users on both sides ('two sided market'). I am not from search/web space - my expertise is in building routers/switches in the 90s. I extended xmpp so that you could query from any chat box that can interwork with xmpp.
Anyone tried quoting a message in a reply in teams? For a messaging client, this should be the most important since everyone in the group wants to know which message you are replying to... But ofcourse msft has to screw it up.. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/quote...
I recall transactional memory being pitched to take a bite out of lock overheads associated with multithreading. (as opposed to lockless algorithms). Has it become mainstream?
Tesla would like to have a word with you. They are upgrading driving ML models on the fly and users seem to like it so far (anecdotal).
This has been my experience as well. I shifted from embedded systems programming to web services world briefly. I found that scale up approach has been so maligned that it is ok to spin up several hundred ec2 instances running a (poorly written) java application instead of a single multi core instance running erlang that performed much better. Some frameworks even ran web services in php and spent all effort in not having the request reach php code since it was doing like 10 reqs/sec.
Two fun memories come up. 1990-1991 floppy disk, dos viruses era : 1) a classmate places a floppy disk next to another one and takes it back in horror when he was informed that the other one had "virus". 2) a steel sheet cut planning algorithm was running for hours on a 486. A professor's child walks in, asks "which button should i NOT press". Absent minded classmate points to the big red one on the 486.
I have been bitten by positive amazon reviews buying fake stuff (usually phone/laptop batteries). There is something about seeing two products one bustling with reviews and other not, and the mind biased toward the former. These days i seek outside reviews (wirecutter, reddit etc) before trusting amazon.
In addition, learning how various internet protocols (esp routing) are designed and historically evolved would be a good idea. Interconnections by radia perlman interconnections would be a start.
i would have liked to see details of layer4 vs layer7 load balancing. The latter invovles terminating a tcp session and reinitiating one to backend.
did you check your router (sys)log messages. Many of the routers will allow enabling debug logs as well.
northern california : i am partial to "skyline to sea" trail. for bay area trails, this is my go to site : https://gurmeet.net/hiking/
English is not my first language. I am confused by the blatant use of the term "Auto Pilot". Does it not suggest more automation than is currently feasible? Why not intelligent assist? Why is tesla/musk getting a pass here?
are the countries being bombed in various wars excluded? I always wonder about their stress levels and coping techniques. Here high school stress is leading to depression epidemic.
I have never had luck buying laptop battery from amazon. Nor a cell phone battery. They are all fake, since none of them would retain charge or even function. I could have extended the life of samsung S5 if i had been able to find a battery.
How is amazon getting away with this? I have never been able to find a genuine laptop battery, phone battery etc.
I work in networking infrastructure products in embedded systems. I never understood the appeal of agile/devops style development for anything whose failure has immediate and widesperead consequence. For e.g would you add features to a deployed compiler in an agile manner? (throw it out there to see what sticks?)
