I wish people would gamble with something other than a proof-of-work coin. There are very similar alternatives now. When bitcoin rises, more money is spent on mining. Whoever holds bitcoin is in part responsible for this waste of energy.

Orange oil works wonders. It's explicitly not food safe, but you get that stuff on your hand every time you peel an orange and it's also present in juice. Just rinse them afterwards and wear gloves.
Sure if you are already airing every hour you don't need it. Then for me it was surprising how often I have to air and for how long (also depends on draft and temperature difference). Once you take into account the more harmful particulate matter coming in from outside, it's about finding a compromise, and without measuring you are tapping in the dark. But in the end people get old without all that stuff.
The professors I know are experts in their small domain (and most of them are really smart, but this is not my point here). They know all the nitty details, I am always amazed by their wide knowledge in discussions. I think for a society it is easily worth it to pay people to dig so deep into their field of interest and the market is not the right mechanism to enable that. I also think Youtube is nice to get started, but I found it insufficient for graduate level material.
Yeah, you only ever hear the naysayers. So second voice to combat that: I like the integration and use it with (admittedly few) selected friends to split bills. And I think it fits signals mission.
Would you expand a bit on the shortcomings? I'm under the impression artificial life was an attempt in the 90s and after some disappointments fizzled away. Why is simple copying with mutation not sufficient for real evolution? In my naivety I hoped it would lead to digital evolution finding exploits to proliferate across the internet.

In Germany, there is an account people can donate money to, to reduce state debt ("Schuldentilgungskonto"), without any personal benefit. It's not even tax deductible. I think that would qualify to refute your last paragraph. It's not used a lot, though. 1.33M in 16 years.
If it comes to that, I expect manufacturers to design processors in a way that electromigration limits their lifetime.
Maybe take a look at evcxr, it runs in a terminal and is REPL like. When I'm dabbling in rust, I use it e.g. to quickly try out library functions and how to work with the result. But I'm just getting started.

The paper packaging of Wasa has a thin plastic liner, which you can see stretching by slowly tearing the paper. It is probably better that the thicker FinnCrisp plastic, but Wasa paper does not belong in the paper bin for recycling.
I learned something, thanks. One of Chen's arguments is, that C allows better memory control compared to C++. For example, it's easy to place the vtable in pageable memory instead of non-pageable memory. Do you know if rust has this problem too, since it also uses vtables?

Which material is better, ply or OSB?
Ply is lighter and generally better structurally but more expensive. OSB is cheaper but heavier. I think he is right. One of the places google servers are used is captive portal checks [1]. Here is a, albeit not very deep, thread discussing how to disable it and you can easily find reports of losing internet access on lineage if you block google addresses on your network. Otherwise a connection to google servers is made every hour or so.

Not the one you asked. But I just install lunarvim when I want a fat IDE. It has many of the bells and whistles like lsp and linter preconfigured. It's started with a different command, lvim, so I can still fire up normal vim on a rust file if I just want to read it or whatever. I used to use coc.nvim, but lunarvim has easy integration for several languages and it's very painless to set up. I'm not customising the normal vim anymore, the linux distribution's defaults are fine. There are other vim 'distributions' with IDE like features besides lunarvim.
I think Öffi/Offi does that. I install one app and get three icons with different functionalities. I think it's a bit annoying, because I cannot hide them individually.
I agree with bitcoin specifically. When it started it was useful to me for cheap cross border value transfer and timestamping. Now we have alternatives. I still would prefer if a more efficient payment mechanism was widespread, that hides my transaction details from the payment processor.
I press Ctrl+Shift+C/V quite often and it's for me it's easier to do with the left hand only when Ctrl is below Shift.
In addition, I think everyone holding PoW crypto is partly responsible for it's absurd waste of energy and the associated CO2 output. If the price goes up, it only gets worse. I won't use anything PoW again.
Nano is fast and free because it is not used much. How many transactions per seconds did they achieve? I think it was in the ballpark of a 100, much too low for a global currency. Let's say 10% of the earth population want to use nano once a week. Then you need 0.1×8e9/(7×24×60×60)~1000tps. Then it might replace paypal, but not cash or card, and the microtransaction usecase is even farther away. Indeed it seems better than bitcoin, but that's a low bar by now. I do like nano's idea of voting weight delegation, it seems like an elegant solution to keep the power over the system in the hand of the user/owners.
At the moment I feel a centralized privacy coin would work best for me. Centralization brings performance and the private part avoids excluding participants.
I'm surprised to hear xmpp on mobile works for people. I tried a few times with a friend. I'm on Android, she has an iPhone. And it always was too unreliable. The worst part is that half of the time messages are not delivered or very late. But there are also problems with attachments. We tried different clients and servers.
