The team you interviewed with wanted you there three times a week, that's not a global policy across the company. Go look at roles in the security org for example and you'll see nearly every one of them lists Remote, United States as the location.

I've been in northern Nevada for the last 30 years and it's always been that way. When there's a boom in California it gets a little worse or the impact is felt a little more with things like housing, but it's not new. The best part is you get people that move here for the lower taxes complaining about the lack of services or the quality of the schools without the realization that those things are typically paid for with taxes. On the other side you have locals complaining about the "Californians" moving here and changing things to be more like California. I hear the same things from friends in Idaho that moved a decade ago to get away from the increasing housing costs here.

You aren't wrong to be skeptical of the author/purpose of the article but the claims that are being made are very likely to be true. I have a friend in my states unemployment office and another friend in a different states department of labor. Both have been complaining about the rampant, and obvious, fraud for months. Early in the pandemic someone tried to file a claim in my wifes name and it was shut down during employment verification but the federal funds may have been sent anyway.

I've been working from home for even longer and working from home when my children were born was awesome. Being able to be a bigger part of the first year for both children was great for our whole family. Having the flexibility to do so was great. I definitely adjusted how and when I worked but I wouldn't have traded that for anything.

I use the Steelcase Gesture and I would definitely try before buying. The single thing most of my guests dislike is the tilt of the seat. If I had to do it again I'd probably go with another Leap or the Humanscale Freedom.

Go through the password reset process with google and it's worse than most people think. The first thing it asks you is:

Enter the last password you remember using with this Google Account

Which of course the attacker knows because they changed your password. If they don't know that you can click try again and go through the various two factor methods set up (hardware token, totp code, sms) and then the very last and also terrible option is putting in the date the account was created. If your account has been owned the attacker likely knows this too. Advanced account protection is pretty much the only option if you've had your account breached at any time.

This person's Google account is likely still vulnerable to the attacker and if they used chrome password sync all of their other accounts are also likely owned. You can recover a google account if you know some basic details such as a previously used password or the creation date of an account. After having a google account owned enrollment in the advanced protection program and ensuring only the strongest recovery methods are enabled are best next steps.

It's worse than this though. My colleague had his sim replaced by an attacker in October of last year even though his account had a note on it specifically to prevent this without the account holder being present and showing photo id. Not only can the customer service rep at your carriers store do this but so can the phone reps at all the other stores that sell phones for your carrier such as best buy. The bottom line is that SMS/phone numbers shouldn't be an identifying factor for security purposes.

There's the Crescent Dunes Solar Plant outside of Tonopah, NV which is also on the way to Las Vegas. It's further away from the road I believe but it's equally as blinding. The first time I drove past it I was shocked.

This is where I'm at. If it doesn't say ships from and sold by Amazon I don't buy it. This is true on other sites that have integrated third party sellers as well. It's not worth the shipping delays, possible counterfeits etc.

I have dozens of these videos now for my two kids and even one or two that are called "Dog days" or something like that with my dog featured instead of the kids. They are usually pretty good but every once in a while there's a blurry pic or they include a video instead of photos and there's some background motion that's distracting. They've gotten much better since they were first introduced.

E-Verify is affected but you just run your E-Verify requests when it's back up. While this is a longer outage than normal E-Verify goes down for other reasons more often than it should and you deal with those in the same way.

I've noticed no one my age clicks this. My son and his friends as well as a friends nieces and nephews who live a couple thousand miles away from us use Google in a completely different way. They don't go to google.com and type in a search query, they click the microphone and ask google their question directly. They are also more likely to use the assistant on their devices than any of the adults I know. I think this is one of those generational shifts as they don't need to be able to type in their queries in the best way to get the results they are looking for, they can just use natural language for the most part.

I'm completely unsurprised that Heller emails ended up in SPAM at a high rate. I was bombarded with email from his campaign and various PACs supporting him. All of the emails were sent to an email address that was used to donate to an unrelated Republican candidate in 2008. There's a whole lot of really obvious list sharing going on.

I've been in Phoenix for the last couple of months and the water here is disgusting. It tastes terrible even after softening and filtering. My hands and body feel slimy after washing. After living somewhere with good tasting and large quantities of fresh water and then coming here it's very easy for me to believe that people would rather drink nothing than water. My one year old daughter loves water over everything else and even she won't drink the water here.

You aren't going to find a lot of overlap between homework being done and turned in and parents that view school as daycare.

In this case the reading is in addition to other homework. So if you are in 3rd grade you are expected to read for 40 minutes and also complete some other tasks. This might be math worksheets, projects or something else. So for my child for example he was getting homework that took about 20 minutes in addition to his required 40 minutes of reading. My niece would routinely have 90 minutes of homework in addition to her 40 minutes of reading and her brother would have usually around 40 minutes of homework on top of his 60 minutes of reading. I'm not sure when they are expected to go outside and play or do their other after school activities with a full day of school and all the additional work at home.

Teachers often have no say in wether homework is assigned. The district in which my wife teaches and my son attends had a mandatory homework policy put in place by the school board. In addition to mandating that homework be assigned Monday through Thursday they specify that it should contain at least 10 minutes of reading per grade level (10 for k, 20 for 1st, 30 for 2nd, etc) as well as additional materials for other subjects. The homework load for my son has been as little as 20 minutes per night as his teachers and administrators feel the same way about homework as you but are forced to assign it. My niece and nephew also attend school in this district but at a different school. Their homework averages between 45 minutes and 90 minutes. Their principle mandates additional homework on top of the boards mandate. The new board has since voted to change this policy and leave the decision on homework up to each schools administration meaning there will be wildly different policies at different schools and still likely not within the teachers control.

I took a 2011 model in since I just needed a replacement battery due to bulging. The Apple employee was flabbergasted that I had removed the screws and bottom plate saying I had voided the warranty... on a severely out of warranty device. The more immediate crisis will probably be due to other types of consumer debt. Take a look at auto lending and bundling as an example.

All that said, the types of phone calls that Google is talking about making here aren't that beneficial...yet.

Even scheduling appointments as in their demo can be really beneficial. My wife and I both work, I have flexibility to make calls during the day but she really doesn't. As a teacher she's constantly having her lunch or short breaks while the kids are at recess taken up by work issues. A surprising number of places are also closed shortly after she gets off work as well. Yesterday she tried to make an appointment with her doctors office and spent her full ten minute recess time on hold. She did end up getting through after school right before they closed but spent an additional ten minutes on hold. None of our doctors, dentists, barbers/stylists have online booking systems. The doctors offices have automated appointment reminder systems but that's it.

Even just wading through the phone tree and sitting on hold until an actual person is reached and then handing it back off to me.

This doesn't work for someone in her situation. There are a ton of hourly workers that are in the same boat. I showed my wife the demo of duplex last night and her responses were that it was amazing and unfortunate that it wasn't available yet.

I have a late 2017 MBP and the left command key does not register about 2/3 of the time unless you press it in exactly the right spot. We've cancelled all current/future MacBook Pro orders due to problems with the keyboard.

I've pretty much given up on Prime Video since they've added in Prime Video Direct. If I wanted to watch the crap that's flooding YouTube I'd watch YouTube.
