Exactly. This article needs some better research. The real history of the eight-hour work day is intertwined with the history of worker's movements beginning in the mid 1800's. This particular attack exploits a known issue of Tor, which has existed by design since day one.
Just so everyone's clear, this was not a "known issue of Tor". It was a javascript based Firefox exploit.
At any time the police could in theory fly to your house, launch tear gas into your windows, and shoot you in the head as you run out. And I don't know about you, but I'm not exactly worried about that happening to the point where I want to take guns, tear gas, and helicopters away from the police.

Are you guys joking? I've been reading Hacker News on and off for years and the majority of the people here are squarely center-right. I can count on one hand the number of regular commenters that I'd consider to be on the Left.

Property has not always existed and it's not a fundamental "aspect of human psychology". If you said possession, I'd probably agree with you but you could say the same thing about sharing and cooperation.
How do you plan to reconcile the web of trust with the potential harm that can come to people who leak data?
I think the real issue is verifying the legitimacy of a leak. If you can verify something, you don't have to trust the person who posted it and they can remain safe and anonymous.
