CernVM File System 4 years ago

Yes I was wondering what is the benefit of cernvm filesystem vs other HTTP based fuse mounts (http, swift/s3)?

I hope that more Americans will settle on CUVs as family cars.

CUVs are built on car style chassis (as opposed to SUV which are built like trucks) and generally are smaller and more fuel efficient (modern turbo 4 cyl designs are pretty impressive). Yet they retain the vast majority of benefits (roomier, higher, AWD, seating up to 7)

Yes CUVs are bigger than sedans, however for a family they check all the boxes and are in my opinion a vastly better alternative to vans, pickups and large SUVs, all of which often come in v6 and v8 engines.

I’ve taken apart various macs using screwdrivers, spudgers, and plastic pry tools.

The most awkward was a plastic pizza cutter designed to cut the adhesive backing of the screen.

It’s really not that hard, but very happy to see it getting easier.

And I am annoyed at people who ignore messages, even a basic “hello”. Seems pretty rude.

Good! If you went up to someone in person who is in flow state and say HELLO! you'll probably get a rude response too.

I’ll add too that it’s better to end a work convo with pleasantries than to begin one.

“Hey I’m blocked on xyz, thanks anyways how was your weekend?”

Is far more pleasant than

“Hey how’s the weekend? anyway I’m blocked on xyz”

I guarantee you are annoying people with this. “Hello” conveys no information, you might as well say “tag”.

“Hello, could we set a time to chat about xyz” lets the reader give a meaningful response when available (and maybe thats immediate)

I simply ignore hellos but happily respond to questions.

I really like the keybed on the yamaha reface series. It has smaller keys, but they are proportioned very well and the feel is good.

The reface series do have sound engines built in, but they can be used as midi controllers as well. Plus they have speakers built-in (along with MIDI, headphone, line in, line out) and can run on batteries, so it's a great portable option.

I have the reface CS, and I like it because it's two in one, midi controller and synth.

+1 to airfoil, the only thing I wish they would do is reduce the pricetag and update the interface. Software works great though!
