I've been wanting something like this for years, ever since we all started to go google as a first port of call and ever since the algorithm changes it's been harder and harder to find out what people are saying about a product without getting hit with corporate/ad spam. I just tried it with a few searches for actual stuff I need more info on and the results were very satisfactory, so well done.

This is a really well thought out product. Well done. You have solved a very real problem with this product in a very fitting way. I also really liked the 3D animation on the kickstarter page. I will buy one as soon as I have some spare cash.

I asked "How can I stop my kidneys being overactive" and got a surprisingly satisfactory result and my question has been answered.

Honestly speaking, I had very low expectations going in so this was a nice surprise.

Sounds interesting but my main concern is the anti-spam approach. It sounds good for general spam but what about a concerted defamation campaign from someone. How do you deal with that?

I agree. It is dependent on use-case but the majority of startups backed by VC choose the SaaS pricing model by default.

I do agree that in the case of something like Netflix a monthly subscription is a good idea, but there are many instances where pay as you go can work so much better.

I will never understand why so many products offer saas pricing when it is of no benefit to the consumer. I don't want to be paying $10/month for something I might only use a few times a year. Just let me pay as I go. I'm relieved to see that model here. Finally. I signed up and I hope other services will follow suit in the same way and relieve us of saas pricing fatigue.

Interestingly a startup I helped with some BI work, I advised then to change to a pay-as-you-go model instead of a monthly subscription and their sales revenue sky-rocketed.

Interesting. I haven't watched the video get but I'm interested to know how is Imba for low-coders like me? React has a huge ecosystem around it and while it is not low-code, component libraries make adoption a bit more of a no-brainer so I'm interested from that perspective.

I've currently been working on a Blockchain app with a low-code back-end which is almost complete now and the front-end is supposed to be done in React but I'm open to alternatives.

I am very interested in this. I am a low-coder you could say. I have to start coding a front-end in React soon (and I have yet to learn React) so with all the overhead of learning React as well as fiddling with html, css etc, it feels like a really big task. I saw some visual builders for React , downloaded/tried a couple but they had pretty big learning curves of their own so I didn't bother taking it any further.

You guys seem to be addressing the right pain point in the right way.

Also, is it "catch-all" event tracking or do I have to set the event tracking up manually? Apologies if that's already mentioned on your site but I did go through the article and didn't see any mention of it.

You're right. In the UK and America it doesn't have as much appeal but in Middle East and Asia it gains a lot of interest. The problem in those territories is distribution. Distribution is much better in the West for self-publishers.

You might have a point about the promise of the book, but that depends on whether your muslim or not. Most muslims who come across it, understand the premise immediately, but still, you might have a point there.

Marketing requires a huge budget in the VC age since you're competing with ever increasing ad prices. I have spent a lot of money on advertising regardless.

One thing that has been a major sticking point for me however, ist hat distribution has been a huge issue. I wouldn't say my target market is that small. Most of the Middle East and Asia is quite ripe for my book but amazon doest operate it's self-publishing arm out there and the alternatives have not been that enticing.

I'm an author of a non-fiction book. I self-published. My book has a 5-star rating to date even though it was published nearly 5 years ago. My book meets most of the criteria laid out in this book. I even had both a publisher and distributor approach me and I had plenty leverage. Despite all that, I didn't get the book sales I wanted nor the PR.

Everyone that reads my book is surprised to hear it's not topping the charts or plastered everywhere my audience hangs out. My book beat out all the competition when it came out in terms of reviews.

While the points in this post are valid, I don't believe they get to the bottom of what holds back sales.

Frankly, I don't know what the answer is -- I have a vague idea of what it could be but I haven't had a chance to try those things. Perhaps if my book had been in all airport bookstores a few years ago, it might have taken off (no pun intended) like Tim Ferriss' book but who knows.

Sounds very interesting. Thanks for the detailed reply. I wrote a book about 4 years ago. It was very well received by those that read it and still gets a 5-star rating to this day but marketing it was real hard and getting the kind of distribution I would have wanted has been really hard.

What are you plans for helping authors establish a relationship with their readers?

All I want is a worthy alternative to Adobe After Effects. We have decent alternatives for the rest of the Adobe suite already. Davinci Resolve Fusion isn't quite up to the task just yet.

I think Adobe is getting beat on a number of fronts, not just what Figma and Canva are addressing. There is a slow but steady rise in the number of people moving away from Adobe Premiere to DaVinci Resolve for example.

Adobe have been short-sighted with their very expensive subscription model which has resulted in people seeking out alternatives. Sure it was very profitable for them in the short-term but at what long-term cost?

It has done nothing but foster resentment in even its most loyal user base.

Personally I can't wait for mature Adobe After Effects alternative, and then I'm gone for good.

This is great advice but if I could just add one thing, from experience, and that is, do treat the interview with dispassion. I have consistently found employers (esp in a dysfunctional organisation) often read dispassion as confidence and that is always a plus point.

This is amazing. I'm looking for a low-code / no-code version of something like this for my video essays. Right now I have to rely on Adobe After effects which is a) costly and b) a little too much kitchen sink.

From the way you're speaking (for want of a better phrase), it sounds like the poverty experience traumatised you, and you're re-living your trauma each day.

Have you heard about DaVinci Resolve?

Yes but I like that it's simple and self-hosted with the privacy aspect.
