Even Microsoft runs SAP Finance and Microsoft has a lot of ERP/Finance knowledge in house. I guess building a system that supports the scale and specific accounting standards all over the world is a non trivial task.

I work in Enterprise Software and I have experienced multiple times that tech companies first tried to build an administrative back office system and came back to the market two years later as the underestimated the complexity.

Who would need a study to state the obvious? In which Universe is a bullying boss help a company? The only example that comes to my mind is when a corporation wants to reduce workforce but doesn’t want to pay severance pay. But this puts people’s health at risk and who in his right mind could want this? I’m working for a SaaS company who takes very much care of its employees and I’m asking myself if I am just naive...

HANA was in the first instance a in memory database - at least partly invented by SAP. Because SAP marketing pushed "in memory" so much, all of the SAP employees believed that HANA was the solution to all problems with SAP software. Therefore SAP named all of its products SAP HANA .... Like SAP HANA Cloud Platform, SAP HANA Cloud Integration, etc. Those products were not even related to the in memory database. It's all marketing bullshit and SAP has even taken a few steps back as too many customers were disappointed.

Ultimately I think the HANA database is an overhyped in-memory database. The reason they make money with HANA is that they are successfully replacing Oracle Databases for their SAP on-premise customers.

From my point of view MDM is more and more getting legacy and most corporations have already chosen a MDM platform, MobileIron has to hurry to find a vendor who is late to this market - like Microsoft maybe?
