If there was ever an answer to the question of "is there commercial or enterprise value in blockchain technology" this is the indicator of all indicators. Hyperledger / Corda were always shit, but this really takes the cake.

Asdf is fantastic for forcing versions of elixir, especially since no native version control exists for the elixir vm itself. Tools like this are developer friendly and also easy to introduce and share - I've had nothing but fantastic experiences with Asdf.

Calculating how much sales tax to collect (when building internal ecommerce payment processing) and figuring out how to report "transient" cashflow (for instance payouts to vendors who sell on a platform) on taxes while not counting it as income.

Figuring out how to file taxes for a small team incorperated as an LLC is also a bit daunting, especially when all team members are in different states working remote.

As cool as this development is, I can't help but think about how this could be grossly abused and used as another means of detaining or abusing certain populations state or federal gov might not like. "Pointing", or the provable technique of eliciting a "positive" detection response from a detection animal, has long been a huge point of contention for use of drug dogs during traffic stops - especially in California and Illinois. Pushing myself during covid has been a somewhat frivolous and failed effort. Sure, I managed to stand up a handful of small "test" side projects, two of which are now small businesses - however I actually struggled more to immediately apply myself at my day job while working remote.

I know the immediate comments will be - focus on your job not side projects, this is obviously why you struggled to buckle down on "actual work". However, I would say that my day to day work gives me more stress and "pushing myself" just lead to further meetings and stress being more involved with other people's problems.

Like a few other commenters here I received an ADHD diagnosis in my early twenties - for this reason college was a significant challenge. My deepest moments of "pushing myself" have come from trying to escape situations or life circumstances that make me deeply unhappy. Supposedly, ADHD sufferers commonly focus anxiety like this - however, this is certainly my vice. Being able to gauge risk and make hard decisions with this anxiety is great - but it comes at a huge personal and social cost.

That said, all of these reactors have been on platforms surrounded by water and are occupied by hundreds if not thousands of trained (some highly trained) crew 24/7. It goes without saying that many of those crew are also armed or directly tasked with ensuring nobody can tamper with the nuclear power source / any part of the platform. I should also add a very good friend of mine is a nuclear engineer who works on submarines.
