Interesting - as an advertiser I generally recommend using the email address "sent from" as your main source of targeting but combining that with specific keywords within the gmail campaign can be super helpful at finding people at the exact right time.
An interesting idea but I find it hard to see this taking off and becomming the norm. They need to sell it to Google or something so they don't have to rely on the browser.
Also, rewarding users with "premium content" or let them "donate it to publsihers" doesn't seem too realistic.
I like the idea but I see some major hurdles before this takes off.
It looks to me like they want to do a Netflix like system but for long form content. The $5 goes towards hiring a specific writer to do a specific in depth article (or series). Unless I am misunderstanding.
We really are in an awkward place because people simply aren't seeing the value in smart watches just yet.
The technology is also just a bit behind.
People see it as geeky and not really solving any problems they have.
Personally I am a fan of the new hybrid watches that are coming out.
They look great (they look exactly like classic watches, because they are), the battery issue is gone (modern hybrids last up to 6 months or longer) and do what people really want a smart watch to do:
see if that notification is something worth taking your phone out for. (most hybrids have different symbols or vibrations or lights that show what it is and who its from).
Throw in the activity tracking and controlling your music from your wrist and you have the perfect combo.
If the marketing is done right I can see hybrids really taking off.
I got royally screwed. Yesterday my 4 month old Pebble Time Round burned my wrist and killed itself, today they announce they no loner honour the warranty.
Eh, these are certainly skills you can learn but it's presented in a way that implies you can learn these skills and start making money right away.
As someone who has dabbled in all of these, my style (dabbling) will NOT work and you wont make a dime. You need to dedicate hours upon hours of hard work to get to a level that will make any kind of decent income.
Blogging wont unless you become one of the 1% that actually get a real audience (which takes YEARS and years and years to do). There are entire universities dedicated to graphic design, so good luck competing there (especially if everything you learned is from those sites listed)
Social media marketing is a new field and if you don't take the time to learn all the other forms of digital marketing it wont get you very far.
The only one that could actually work is coding and that takes a lot of dedication and can't be learned by everyone (the same way some people can't wrap their heads around mathematics) It's not the challenge, it's just the style of thinking.
the main difference is this one you don't have to go and purchase each time. It auto sends you the socks every couple of months so you never have to worry about going and buying more.
Basically makes it so you never have to even think about socks.
