Omi | https://omi.me | Founding Engineer | SF, can start remote | Full-time | 1-10% equity | $120k+/year

Omi is a wearable AI memory that helps you recall everything important and make decisions. Put it on, speak, transcribe, summarize, automatically. In 10 months, we hit 300k users, 100M+ views, shipped 3 hardware prototypes and raised $2m from Tim Draper.

I'm Nik (Thiel Fellow, sold 2 startups incl. one to Toptal after scaling to $4M GMV). Omi is fast-moving, and looking for a founding engineer to join me. Ideal background: built/architected real products at scale (consumer or hardware).

Stack: Flutter (need to move to React Native) and C.

We move fast. You'll shape the future of wearable computing.

Email me: nik@basedhardware.com — send a note with your most badass achievement and Github. I reply to every good one.

this is a great idea This is how we would solve it

1) We probably wouldn't add "modes" but we will add different "coaches" with different styles => for example if you need sales/pitching, you'll select "Tony Robbins", if you need a business person, you select Elon Musk

2) We will be able to solve your problem with "request'" So if you say "Hey Sama" and then, tell "Sama" to become "masterful negotiator coach" until the end of the day => it will become one

Hi HN community, I'm Nik, Anhphu and Ansh

We built a proactive AI mentor that records your memory via iOS app or hardware and gives you feedback

Remembering real-life conversations and gaining insights from them is challenging. Whether it's for personal growth or effective communication, losing track of important details can be frustrating and counterproductive.

We built this app because we saw lots of wearable hardware but always wondered why you can’t use your phone to record memories and try this experience on the hardware you already have (your phone) without buying anything

Sama AI is an iOS app that listens to your conversations, offers feedback, and helps you retrieve specific details later. It's designed with a focus on privacy, ensuring only textual summaries are stored to respect user consent.

The main difference from other solutions is that it’s already a working product you can already try it on your phone before buying any hardware.

We plan to make money by offering subscriptions for additional features later. We also offer hardware “AI Pin” for $99 which is 7x cheaper than existing alternatives

We're here for your thoughts, experiences, and feedback. How can Sama AI better serve your needs? What features would you like to see? Thank you for any insights you can provide!

Also, since I'm the creator of that tweet, I kindly ask everyone, instead of upvoting this post, to express their own opinion instead.

Since we launched, we mostly received only positive feedback so I'd like to see the negative side - should we actually continue working on this or just shut it down and return money back?

More and more AI wearables are being created but I've noticed lots of people being aggressively against any wearables.

Would you personally use smth like this? Or this is too privacy-invasive? Do you think peoples' behavior will eventually shift in 1-10 years so that eventually everyone will adopt and wear some kind of necklace with them?

There is a 2-3 years coding barrier till you become a "Junior" dev and can get hired. It requires access to quality education which people in developing countries simply do not have.

But since they are looking to earn money as well, they prefer to use no-code.

I'm talking from experience and from numbers: out of 60k no-code experts that we have, most of them (95%+) are from developing countries and not from developed ones
