WhatsApp marketing firm are dim a dozen who will help send messages via API. It's banks, food delivery, shipping companies... All send unsolicited WhatsApp messages and i think the government just uses one of the marketing agencies for it. Also, it's not against the meta rules as they aren't promoting any party but government communication.

I have used Firefox sync in my new Mac M3 and it flawlessly synced everything from my older mac, my Android phone, my Linux workhorse, and Windows machine. Really love firefox.

Not everything is political. I can tell you this because I work with many of indian government departments very closely. The reservations JPC highlighted will be studied and after consultation with stakeholders it will tabled again.

FYI - The committee chairman and the IT Minister are from the same political party yet they disagreed and bill got pulled.

Here is a good premier on the JPC Recommendation [1]

In case you are serious about understanding why it was pulled out and really care about the details for such an action, I highly recommend you check the Joint Committee on the Personal Data Protection report [1] the Press Release section where they released the 534 pages report on it.

Gist of it is - the committee recommended major changes across the board in all sections of the act so the IT Ministry would rework the bill and present it for discussion again in the parliament.

I know India looks like a lawless place because of the chaotic news coverage in the NYtimes but it is a democracy and most if not all government action have rational policy choices that presented in the Indian parliament. The loksabha proceedings (especially the question hour) is the best way to understand what goes on in India.

Edit: For those without a lot of time should check the point by point explanation and rebuttal for the recommendations here [2]

People working in this doesn't necessarily translate to future progress. You can confusing lead and lag indicators. Some people enthusiastically using a product and ready to pay money for it, is a lead indicator. A lot of people working on solution for a problem that does not exist is no indicator at all.

I don't have any feedback I just love the design and work flow. I downloaded to software. Overall I can see myself moving into this workflow but my only big concern is the exit clause and the login screen when I start the app (maybe have a file browser -it might be my adobe reader hangover) , I could not figure out how to export the notes, maybe you will work. Overall my reservations are just nitpicking and I absolutely love the product. Great work.

Try launching on Hackernews, product hunt, indie Hacker, email some creator (with large following to try it out), try doing it in AppSumo, Upload a video of it on youtube.

These are just top of my head. I am sure there would be many

Thank you for your response, David. I want to dig a little deeper on point 1.

You are using social accountability, be it online or in-person (office setting), to improve the completion rate. I am sure they have worked well for the clients you work with. Here are the few ways I have tried for corporate clients and have seen the completion rate increase in most cases

1. The candidate has to pay a high entry fee (for example USD 1000) and whatever percentage of the course they complete beyond the minimum 60%, they get that percentage of their fee refunded. So if someone finishes the entire course, the course is free for him and if someone does only half or less of the course they pay the full fee. The client then donates the money on the candidate's behalf to a partner NGO.

2. Another is a reward at every level. I don't have enough evidence to say these words, as I tried only once.

3. Course completion is tied to performance metrics but it has to be done with care because the goal is learning rather than a certificate.

4. Displaying % completed for the entire cohort (which can have side effects but is a good motivation device and can contribute towards social accountability.

I did these experiments by combining different tools but my case isn't representative of anything in the industry. So I must repeat take everything I say with a kilo of salt.

Hi David,

I browsed your website and it looks really nice. Beautifully designed. I have been in the education business for close to nine years and still fascinating to see so many innovations. I have a few questions and maybe some suggestions.

1. Async model (Moocs) has been known for low completion rate while instructor-led cohort courses aren't scalable for large firms, how have you tried to solve this problem besides the community angle? ( I have thought about this and want to see how you have approached the issue)

2. How is the completion rate in passive learning scenarios like a corporate onboarding/training as opposed to a university class in Eduflow?

3. have you tried running classes, I saw that you have templates have you have used them yourself how has been your feedback?

Not sure if you already do but it would be great to have a course dashboard with graphs along with the tables. A simple kanban board for the student and a teacher for easier course management. Lastly, give API access to the firm that could connect their internal tools or other no-code tools to EduFlow and give more contextual programmes.

Disclaimer-Take everything I say with a giant pile of salt. This is just after some cursory look and I obviously don't know anything about Eduflow other than what I saw for a few minutes on your website.

Yes this is helpful. I do take extensive notes while reading books or listening to podcasts but never thought of doing it as part of work, in terms of documenting my process and make develop some kind of checklist to run before I push changes.

I try not context switch. My strategy is to focus on one thing get it done and then move to the next. Sort of like going through a To-Do list. I add rechecking time in all tasks I do. It happens a lot more while texting, slack massages, or quick -short emails than on big project because of repeated checks.

Thank You. I may be dyslexic. I am not sure though. I have never been diagnosed for it.

I am really great at execution. Details notwithstanding, I am usually the best performing member in my team but my teammates or managers end up correcting (commenting / pointing out) my mistakes which increases their work.

I will try your email signature idea. Thank you again.

The choices India has are

Either don't take the steps follow what happened in US, Italy, UK, china and other countries. India does not have the medical infrastructure these developed countries have and has a billion plus population. The death rate will dwarf anything in the world and would overwhelmed the medical facility of the country.

Take steps and it "might" infringe on the privacy of citizen.

I know BBC, NYT and other western news organisation were disheartened to see so less Covid-19 related deaths in India compared to their own countries but I would rather have less death. My present employer (not the ones mentioned in the article)and I am glad as WFH will stop .

But I do agree the 1984-ish situation is built on fear and i truly hope government open-sources the code and takes steps to protect privacy. We are in unprecedented times.
