I'm the author of this blog post. And I don't think the invitation was the main issue here. I did have a ticket, and I wasn't visiting any friends there who could invite me. Also I haven't been asked about the invitation letter during the main interview, I haven't even been asked why I don't have it or anything like that...

I think the main issue was my not permanent employment, here, in the UK. I just don't like the way the officer was interviewing me.

I'm happy for them. Don't get me wrong, I love meerkat, it's a great app. Periscope looks like a one night hack for me. My point is that their entire app relies entirely on Twitter.

In my opinion what Meerkat did wrong was not making relationship with Twitter. The reason why they got blocked are simple:

- v1 of Meerkat was posting on user's behalf without permission, auto-follow @Meerkat on sign-up, sending Twitter notifications without permission.

- user's social graph cannot be ported to the 3rd party apps

- recreating commenting network using Twitter's API

This is why I am not surprised Twitter blocked them. They say: "you don't shit, where you eat".

I thought this will be the main use of meerkat TBH

Are people still using windows?

definitely agree with you, I think I'm the case you are talking about. I came to uni with a bigger experience and knowledge than other guys, I don't blame them. But I don't want to put myself on their level that's why I'd like to propose my own topic and show my skills there

I do "things" outside uni. I could choose something easy, finish in a month or two, but that's not what I look for

this is something I need to do. before that I want to have some of the ideas lined up in my head

Hey thanks for your feedback! In the mean time of building a platform we would like to see how many students is interested in it.

It is a simple idea which might (or might not) become a useful tool for students. We have a plan behind it so I hope when we launch we will be able to surprise everyone in a good way!
