"Commitments", not "git commits". For revenue teams, this could be signing a contract, scheduling a certain number of meetings, drafting a blog post, etc. Similar parallels for any team within a company. The key is being able to break larger projects into manageable weekly commitments that are specific and measurable.

Welcome to HN, I am new here myself, good to see I am not alone!
I'll be sure to go back through and clean up my code, the site should however be displaying 0 if yesterday at this same time it was also, 73 degrees F, does this seem correct?

Of course, up until now my experience has been something along the lines of... first I completed Chris Pines learn to program and all of the exercises on Codeacademy. Next, I read the book, Beginning Ruby from Novice to Professional and completed some other online exercises such as the Ruby Monk problems. Most of the preparation I was doing at the time was to get ready for my interview to App Academy so, I also completed their prepwork which consisted of some TDD problems and an event planner from Jumpstart Labs.
Unfortunately I didn't do so great in the interview for App Academy and was rejected, which was last week, however following my interview I decided I would just set my mind to actually trying to build something to begin the process of teaching myself!

Wouldn't that be a good place to start learning then? Without a community of people now to push me and work through problems with me, wouldn't a school of sorts be the perfect place to get those things?

I suppose there's nothing really stopping me other than thinking the project might just be too big to even attempt right now.
I've been working through a few books as well as the standard online exercises and am now looking at a program like dev bootcamp or app academy to really accelerate the leraning process
I'm currently finishing my last year in university and will be graduating next month with an economics major. It was only recently after thinking up a project that I thought would be awesome to build, did I even begin to get interested in coding but I can safely say I've found something that I truly enjoy and want to invest my time into learning.
My major sources of motivation are the hopes of making myself more marketable in terms of getting a job after university and the motivation of having a project that I want to see built

A weather app for people to check in the morning that tells them the weather for the upcoming day in an easy to understand sentence, compared to the previous days weather.
EG: Good morning! It's going to be a bit colder than yesterday and if you're going to be out around 2pm we would suggest an umbrella.
So instead of trying to figure out, hey ok it's going to be 35 degrees with a wind speed of 15 MPH you could just think about what it was like yesterday and dress/plan accordingly
Really would love to try to build this myself haha unfortunately lacking the dev abilities (app academy application....fingers crossed!)

That is what I was thinking. It seems like maybe just finding someone from a site like dribbble would be the thing to do. Invest in doing it right the first time.
