They don't. A large number of them don't even care. Some even click on all of the "allow this site to send you notifications" and then proceed to get spammed by hundreds of notifications on their phone/PC. And don't mind it.
Regarding users creating new accounts on phone setup:
Recently I encountered a user that had created a new Google account when switching to a new device... on their last 5 devices.
So when they switched to the latest one and called me to set up the phone, I had to wrangle the contacts, photos, cloud storage and whatnot from all of those accounts.
Another pain point for me (in the EU/Balkans) is the transfer of Whatsapp and Viber. For reasons unknown, the accounts, contacts, chats, downloaded data can't be transferred during device setup. The only way to transfer data to a new device is to create a cloud backup on the old phone, which requires creating a wapp/viber account and setting up the google drive backup (local backup to a file? lol no. Any other cloud service available? lol no). Of course, when dealing with a media-heavy user (lots of photos, lots of memes/videos from group chats that are automatically downloaded to the phone), often is the case that the cloud storage tied to the google account doesn't have enough space for the backups, because it is filled with the automatic google photos backup that nobody turns off. And the user usually doesn't want to pay for extra space on Google because they don't understand why or just plainly don't want to.
So yeah, the transfer process is slow and complicated and full of traps, but it also offers an insight in to how much the imaginary "average consumer" doesn't care about this stuff and just agrees to everything offered.
I noticed that as well, I thought it was just a bug or a conflict because I used Smart Switch instead of a "built-in" Android tool.
OK, so Windows now collects even more data about user behaviour, without notifying the user.

Anybody know of a self-hosted RSS reader that can remember different views for different folders?
I'm using Inoreader which does that - I have a folder that is displayed as titles only, and a different one that displays as "cards".
I've tried a few of the more famous self-hosted ones, but none of them have that feature. I know that a keyboard shortcut can be used to change views, but my early-morning doomscrolling brain doesn't want to think about that.
I've used that workaround on literally dozens of installations in the last few years :)
I just installed a copy of 25H2 on a laptop with a previously saved Professional licence.
You can just choose to create a "work or school account" and then leave the domain name empty.

And yet, you don't get an Outlook notification if you receive new mail that gets sorted in to a Inbox subfolder.

This is another similar tool:
It loads 10 posts at a time and filters out all of the junk. Then you have to manually load more posts.
It's really eye-opening when you load 10 posts and it filters out 9 of them.
But besides that, the thing that's really pushing me away from FB is the pure hate, agression and stupidity on display in the comments section of local groups. It hurts to see the levels people descend to when they can comment without any repercussions.
And all that without even mentioning that they put cut/copy/paste on top in icon form (afaik).

Here the phones that you can get from your carrier and pay off on a monthly basis often end up costing more than in retail.
I set up 3 new Mac laptops in the last month.
All of them had an option to skip iCloud login during setup.
Of course, you have to log in to iCloud to use the app store to get OS updates. Since I'm not an Apple user, I don't know if there are offline options available.
I screwed up and connected to wifi before using the oobe\bypassnro command.
I had to block the PC from accessing the Internet in my router settings to get the "I don't have an internet connection" button back.

Keeping it closed is not the problem.
The problem is that the duvet bunches up inside the cover if you move around a lot during sleep.

I have some animal themed safety pins that my parents used on my duvet since I was a child. I put four of them in a square shape around the middle of the cover when the duvet is inside.

I got a ZenFone8 when it came out and was very satisfied with it at the time. Then, a month later, posts started popping up with people reporting that their phones just randomly rebooting and bricking. I think there were a few hundred cases reported. To this day, there is no official response from Asus. I used to carry a backup phone with me every time I was away from home for longer than a day because I was afraid that my phone could die at any moment.
Also, every update seemed to introduce a new bug that only got fixed in a month or so with the next update. So we had broken face unlock for a month, broken Google Pay, broken notifications, among other things.
I haven't been following reports for the ZF9 or ZF10, but I think they had similar problems.
To top it all off, the official unlocker / root tool from ASUS has been disabled for over a year by now, and nobody knows when it will work again.
All in all, ASUS phones (at least the ZenFone line) do have great hardware, but official support is abysmal.

I say good riddance.
While never having used the Zenfone 9 or 10, my experience with the Zenfone 8 was not so good.
It did feature a fast CPU and enough RAM and is still a fast phone, but:
- it heated up significatntly from day 1
- even with the battery saver mode on and a durable power profile enabled, the battery barely lasted me a full day of use
- the phone was chunky when compared to my previous Huawei P10, and only had one third-party case available on launch day
- software updates were regular for the first few months after release, but every second one seemed to introduce a different problem with a major feature (NFC payments, notifications, face unlock, battery life...)
- problems introduced in a previous update were only fixed in a month with the next update, so you were left with a buggy phone if you updated regularily
- a few months after release, phones from the first two or three batches started randomly dying without any chance of recovery. ASUS never reacted to this, except "contact your local service center". Because of this problem, I got used to carrying a backup phone with me each time I was away from home for more than a day
- around when ZF9 came out, the official support forum felt abandoned by ASUS, and software updates became even more irregular, even though issues are still present
To sum it up, I feel that ASUS has great (phone) hardware, but just don't care about the users. I moved to a Samsung S23 as it is smaller than the ZF8 and is more popular, so I figured that they can't mess up support for so many people.
There is probably some human who sold the ad space to somebody, and who is monitoring how many button presses there are. And they will probably put pressure on the supermarket to make sure customers are reminded that they have to push the button if they want candy. Sure, the employees are probably sick of the ad, but the people who don't have to hear the ad don't care about them :)
Is this feature present only in th US, or are there any other countries that play ads on the pumps?
...and still no mention when they will release Spotify Hi-Fi.

It's usually the first thing that stops working on my mice.
Also I love it that ThinkPads still have 3 physical mouse buttons over the touchpad, so I don't have to mess with the gestures or hold down Ctrl to open links in new tabs.
