The main text is black yes, but anything that's bold is light grey as per the CSS, which is near unreadable (even if you're not as colourblind as me I suspect)

Unrelated to the content: why on earth is super-light grey a good "bold" colour for a white background? I'm having to highlight each of the bolded parts of the text just to understand it :/

edit: console command for anyone else struggling to read this `document.documentElement.style.setProperty('--bulma-strong-color', '#000');`

From how I read it, the author seems to be suggesting that this list of IPs be on an allowlist as they see Google as "less nefarious". As such, sure, allowing google IPs is as easy as allowing all IPs, but discerning who are "nefarious actors" is probably harder.

A more tounge-in-cheek point: all scripts take an LLM ~10 seconds to write, doesn't mean it's right though.

I'm a Software Engineer with ~13 years of experience. I've worked across a fair few stacks at this point but have a fair amount of experience in Python & JavaScript, not to mention general DevOps stuff. I've also worked across a few different roles, from Lead Dev to Engineering Manager.

I'm currently back to the UK after nomading around Southeast Asia and am keen to find some contract/freelance/consulting work. I'm pretty flexible with what I'm looking for in all honesty, my main want is to help solve problems and write some great code.

I'm looking to get in at the founding or early stages of something that I can really get my teeth stuck into growing and being a part of. Until I find that I'm also open to contract/freelance/consulting work. I left my previous role at the end of 2023 for exactly this reason, and I left Singapore after 5 years at the same time. I'm currently traveling remote across SEA whilst I search for my new home.

Count this as a big +1 for an RSS feed, would remind me to check in more often.

Silly-small ux items that are very much nice-to-haves:

- Another +1 for allowing titles/authors to be copy-able - I often find myself hunting for the book to buy from somewhere based on the reviews or searching more from the author

- Increase the time for the book cover fade-outs, I've several times I've been interested in a cover but been too slow with the mouse/trackpad.

In general tho: the site is awesome from a clarity/readability point of view, it's ad-free and the content is excellent. You're nailing the important stuff IMO

"Nothing is more frustrating than having a slow experience while browsing the web"

^ I stopped reading at this point, because I realised that this is something that only someone on a marketing team would write. A perfect combination of incorrect and disingenuous.

You're not wrong, but I bet there are lots of things that will assume based on url (rightly or wrongly). e.g. I've seen a lot of nginx reverse proxy setups implement different caching policies based on url suffix (again rightly or wrongly).

Maybe just playing it safe?
