The comparison to TV/cable is a good one. I don't think people who feel this way would say the same about telephones or the postal service.

I own a 4 year old Nexus 4 that I got for $200. Almost everyone I encounter thinks it's an iPhone initially. Many people (especially the older ones) still think it's an iPhone after I tell them it isn't.

I suspect most of those history questions are answered via Wikipedia. From what I've seen if the snippet isn't using Wikipedia it's not useful and/or accurate.

There used to be a feature on Twitter for viewing other people's feeds[1], but was removed[2].

I made something to replicate that via Twitter Lists[3][4], but it seems like making one for Facebook is much more important.

Author here: In developing this I discovered that Twitter really doesn't care about lists. The limits on API usage and aggressive following are well documented, but anything about lists is minor.

Also, if anyone from Twitter is reading: it would be nice if Twitter implemented a way to subscribe to someone's timeline instead of having to resort to this method.

Then his job is find something else for Twitter to make. Facebook has launched a lot of experimental apps like Paper, Rooms, Slingshot, Messenger. And they bought Instagram which is very successful. Under Costolo Twitter bought vine and periscope, but they haven't tried to experiment with new app ideas internally.

Watching the latest video[0] on their youtube channel, it looks very similar to Squarespace or Medium. There doesn't seem to be any kind of AI or anything like that. Just an app to make blog posts with.

Well, for one people do not expect drivers to stop at a green light, like was the case here. You might wish everybody was well aware of their environment, but the fact is, a green light is a strong signal that makes people assume the other drivers are moving or are going to.
