Blender 5.2 LTS 4 days ago

Yes, it's had a lot of money put through it since its early days, with quirky shortcuts and quirky features.

Imagine if they made Gimp good, this would be what blender became in 3D.

They've done it right, with a foundation and it appears to run like clockwork. Feature wise it now rivals with some pretty expensive alternatives.

Open source; can win!

This, once again, misses the elephant in the room.

The fact is simple, there isn't enough of a Mac gaming market for the game developers to go through the effort.

The hardware has been good enough for a while now.

I'm not saying this will never change but the developers that shipped games on PC and Mac report something along the lines of 6-11% of users use a Mac. That isn't worth the effort unless you have a very strong IP and you've already targeted the switch2, the PS5 and XBox.

The game voxatron is old.

I'm not sure about the fantasy console version though! This might be new?

Extremely cool. Loading up these games in a split seconds used to take eons as a kid with the tapes.

Bruce Lee on ZX spectrum was my jam!

That's a ridiculously biased and short sighted opinion.

UE5 is just an evolution of UE4 and the early adopters suffer from being early adopters. Beyond that there is a skill issue in studios shipping less than ideal performances on time constraints.

UE5 is a marvel of modern technology from all angles.

I've been doing this for 25 years professionally and let's just say I'm more the 3 coffees, 1 redbull, headphones and bassdrive kind of programmer.

So no, I will not be "meditating". My meditative states tend to be beard stroking and occasional F bomb.

Qualcomm Linux 2.0 21 days ago

Because at the time of my purchase I mistakenly believed that fan-less was a given for an ARM laptop; and that ARM laptops were a lot more supported than Apple products; some big names were using ARM linux and raving about it.

It's still is a great laptop and I recommend it for the hardware overall, but not fan-less indeed.

OpenTTD 16.0-Beta1 26 days ago

hah I played for an hour this new beta. It's fun. I haven't played for years.

I couldn't workout the train signals though, there are 4 of them and they have a digit as well with them, not sure what's going on there. I'm probably not the target audience :)

It's called ghosted, shadow banned, too sensitive / shitshow; Basically a multiplier of 0.1 is added to this post's ranking, or similar, and it will need thousands of upvote instead of hundreds to show.

It's commonly applied silently to posts that simply don't look good or become a nightmare to manage the narrative of. It's a healthy way to manage a community while looking transparent.

I think it's sucky and cheap, but at the same time it's also the best solution.

Boot Naked Linux 1 month ago

When I swapped my disk in my mac for a SSD for the first time... It was insanely faster. Booted in 5-6 seconds. Apps like photoshop opened up cold in 2 seconds. So no, I think it was a huge leap.

I think no matter what the advance in tech is, it will get enshittified to tolerated "computer is working" slowness within months of said upgrade.

Awesome work. I wish you'd write the process of getting it done step by step. I too would love to DIY my own netbsd.
