I use Lync at work, and I like it. The features are there, but nothing is in your face. Hopefully Skype will not adopt some of their design concepts.

Sometimes I wonder if the guys who are providing the hosting, logo, font and design services are the ones making the money, not the startup founders. Web startups can depend on many paid services to make a web app work, yet not sure if their own web app can make money at all.

Would you rather just have documentation of APIs? Having the source code is better than not, at least it gives people the option to expand/correct/port anything if they wish to.

Because before 1949, life was hell. After 1949, life was better, but still struggle in poverty. Recent years has been the best for Chinese for a couple centuries. People learn to live with what they have and always save money to prepare for a rainy day.

Although, Chinese are willing to spend big bucks on education, especially for their children.

Totally agree... rather than shipping a stand alone product and dragging along users to use them, they simply integrated a new product into a very successful one. Plus, the new product fits perfectly.

Not bizarre if you consider Google actually gives away source code of some of their best products for free. Microsoft just couldn't do this.
