I've been pushing code professionally since about 1986. I think there were dinosaurs then but I can't quite remember.

So, I tried Dwolla 13 years ago

Sounds like they pulled a credit check. I got the same kind of questions when I applied for regular merchant (credit card processing) account.

Why is it that people think that they can open a payment account, transfer thousands of dollars into it as their first transaction and no one will ask any questions or be the least bit suspicious?

Some people seem to think that they're entitled to hitch a ride on the huge network effect craigslist has acquired through years of patient effort. The folks are shocked, shocked that craigslist isn't thrilled to let them do so.

This seems an odd fit to me. Groupon has a reputation for not being concerned whether the deals it encouraged businesses to run are good for the business. FeeFighters has had a reputation as a sincere advocate for SMB's.

Paypal's destruction of counterfeits policy is intended to combat counterfeiting of designer items. It's application here seems lame-brained to say the least.

I'm curious how it got into Paypal's dispute resolution process however. In the only other original post I could find on the matter the seller says she sold the violin through eBay http://paypalcomplaints.org/paypal-told-buyer-to-destroy-ite.... Normally this would have gone through eBay's dispute resolution process first.

btw. Elapsed time between opening the support request and an answer from someone at Joyent - 9 minutes... Elapsed time from opening support request to receiving account details for an account on a new machine about 26 minutes. That includes the time it took me to get back to them about some details of the account.

I have a lifetime account as well. Joyent's tech support has always been excellent. I take this as a wakeup call to get my stuff off of the old severs beyond that I can see little fault with Joyent.
