NYC, New York

Greatist is looking for a technical leader.

Passionate about building products that help inspire & inform the world to make healthy choices? We’re looking for a brilliant technologist with passion, vision, strong people skills, and killer dev chops excited about making a genuine and lasting difference in the health & fitness space. Someone who builds stuff for fun that’s been successful and (ideally, though not necessarily) works out now & then. Someone who wants to share the Greatist vision and transform it. This position is full time & based in NYC.

Interested? Please send (a) your favorite health & fitness tip as well as (b) a resume and/or links to your online footprint & project work to kelli at greatist dot com. Show us what you can do, tell us why it matters, and convince us you’re passionate about the same space we are.

My boyfriend and I live in a studio, large enough for the both of our "startup lifestyles", and we pay less than that in a safe neighborhood in Manhattan, close to a subway line that can take us practically anywhere in the city. This isn't a particularly rare gem, you just have to know where to look.

I disagree that general education courses are "crap". I think people greatly undervalue the skills those courses teach when they pass them off as useless.

I'm graduating in about a week myself, and reflecting back on my college education, some of the liberal arts courses I was required to take helped me to develop crucial communication skills - which technical/scientific people stereotypically lack.

Also, taking some of those introductory science courses, like chemistry, help to create a foundation of knowledge to intelligently speak about other scientific ideas. Could you learn this on your own time? Sure, but if you don't particularly like a topic, it's unlikely you're going to devote your precious free time to it.

The grams of protein are within his dietary needs. Nobody, male or female, needs more protein than 10% of their daily calories.

Most vegetarian diets do not lack sufficient amino acids. Protein needs are greatly exaggerated by "pop science". Iron and B12 are of greater concern than protein in non-meat diets.
