Nokia:We are still commited to Symbian

I don't get this logic that because every social network before fb died so will fb. We have to agree that fb understood the social networking landscape a lot more than all other previous players. My guess is fb will not rule the web but it is here to stay for a long long time

What if we as a nation came to realize that the quest for empires eventually destroys all great nations? - Ron Paul

Seems Dell are working on a series of android devices and some of them will be tablets. If anything is going to beat the ipad I can only think about a dell tablet right now

I think Maemo 6 would be announced much sooner than that. It is very like that it would be announced in the maemo summit scheduled on october this year in Amsterdam.

I would opt for a complete new type of a search engine. One with completely different features to present day search engines.

1) A mashup type of a search engine which would combine results from different locations and combine them into one result

2) An intelligent search engine which give one or few accurate answer to what ever we ask from it.

IMHO 500 euros is reasonable considering that this is almost a computer in your pocket with real control for the user. It is my guess that an iphone 3GS would cost more than this without a contract and the device looks good as the iphone.

Rather than on open vs closed, native apps vs web based apps app war win will be decided solely on the number of users a given mobile platform has. For that some android manufacturer would have to stand up to design an iphone killer.

People are just overreacting to a simple case of localization effort.

A multinational corporation would never be racist because when the main motivation is profit and you are serving across all demographics the last thing you can afford to be is been racist.

Yep Maemo is the way forward for Nokia. Symbian is a OS in the previous decade.

But the problem is I don't think Nokia's top management has understood this at all. They are still favoring Symbian over Maemo and Maemo is only shipped with their internet tablets as of now.

What they need to do is to make Maemo something like Android where any manufacture can contribute and use the OS and then design their smart phones for Maemo. Otherwise they will fail miserably in the smart phone race.
