So...it's a commodity. It's running water. Is there a way to stop the dollars flowing away from ordinary people consuming this tech, to the doomsday Bunkerist/ Apocoligarchs of today who literally give zero fucks about lives and humanity?

We already have most of the benefits from these models and have even captured them. We can now have such a system running at home on a lower power SBC which costs about a thousand dollars or much less, and requires no Internet connection.

Once we have the "good enough" model which can be run at home, and with very little usage of electricity, will all this stuff finally stop messing with society like how it is messing with society now? One wonders.

This is a money grab. It's a bubble. Also, I'm pretty fucking sure that Spaghetti Bolognese recipes will not improve with more and more reddit content (much of which will probably be AI generated anyway).

I am a greybeard and I always find this stuff to be fascinating. Should I invest time in it for relaxation? I think I have the diablo-ish Minecraft thing on my Xbox series X. Is it worth the time?

Botany is great because the results are basically what I'd call magic. It's such beauty (and horror on occasion).

The marriage of CS and botany seems like a match made in heaven and just from writing these comments I've convinced myself that it's probably the most practical way to go forward in life.

I grow marijuana and chillies from time to time. I got good at it. I will say that plants are malleable in untold ways and so I find this article to be unsurprising.

Plants will do what they need to do in the end. I've done stuff like co2 bombing, and increasing nutrients to the point to where I get a whole new ecosystem of insects and an entirely new situation.

It is such fascinating stuff that it's actually the life I want to live. I'm a computer scientist but now I yearn for the botanical sciences.

I highly recommend checking out defoliation strategies and low-stress training methods for anyone interested. Plants are not dumb creatures. The results you can get from them are astonishing and the science of what plants actually are becomes more profound by the day.

I appreciate the comment and I'm well aware and fully clued up on the history of Hasbara and the rest. I actually thought the word "Hasbara" was closer to "explanation". Close enough lexically I guess.

I just find this really depressing and I hope that there will be an end in sight. The happenings of right now is the stuff of horror novels.

It has literally been simmering for a long time and now it finally comes out. Taking it out on Israel is not wrong and that's not to say that they (the Israeli government) hold the sole responsibility for this. The US had a say in this as well. Slightly off topic, I'm not sure, but way back in the day (2000ish) a friend of mine used PERL scripts to scrape all the big databases which existed at the time, namely IMDB.

He used PERL for scraping and the same for generating "new" content with what he had scraped. He made a bunch of static websites with ads. The sites connected to each other. Sports, Celebrities, Movies, you name it. He had a formula.

Those sites were profitable enough that he could travel the world and have fun, basically. His mother collected the cheques from Google and cashed them into his account.

Now to get to the final point here, his secret was simply TYPO INJECTION to avoid Google's then embryotic duplicate content detection.
